Hi Jim,

Thanks for the words of encouragement.... I am hopeful I can recover someday.

Regarding widening the wheels. Hasn't happened as yet. Rob Edwards and I are scratching our heads together on this one. We have a place that can do it and make the wheels strong and safe. The question is what size and offsets. Not even sure we can mess with or alter the offsets, but the big question remains mostly relative to the rear wheels. how wide (I like 10.5 - 11.0 inches) and at what offsets to prevent interference in the wheel well.) Once we have that then we are willing to be guinea pigs. For the amount of $$$ this will cost there can be no room for errors. So any specific ideas as to size and offsets is desperately requested.

dr bob - thanks you for the advice. Yes the wife, is an incredible woman and it is my ultimate surprise for her when it is completed.

I experimented with lots of different kinds of shyte over the years (Chevies, Fords, Street Rods, etc.) but after I was tempted by a friend to try some Idaho Guards Red, it was over for me. I can't go back. I'm learning to live with terminal addiction to Shark Attacks. I found that Arizona Polar and Georgia Black are just as good and I still have a craving for more. Utah Merlin Gold is really tempting but you can't hardly get that. It's so bad, I sometime see visions of Kermit Green with purple insides. And don't even mention Texas Low Mile Blue to me. I'm having trouble coping as it is.

Hi. My name is Ron, and I have a problem. As the 928 ownership calendar passes, it seem I have just have more questions, and have a need to learn even more.

This forum never seems to end. I sit here daily at ther edge of the couch and search, and read and read, and sometimes 'copy and paste' 'for later' I am here with my family, but I am not 'really' here, as I am planning and budgeting my next 'to-do fix.' I wake up, kiss the wife, then go look at my car (as if it may of got stolen while I was asleep) Every morning I look at it, I cannot help but grin.

If there really is a cure, I am not interested. Mind your own business!

I bought one car. A perfect car that needed nothing. I could drive it for a year or two with no work. Brakes,tires,suspension,exhaust....all functioning well. That was ten months ago. Here I sit deep in the Maine winter, car's up for the inclement weather: I've got a second motor,headers,header-x,hi-flo cats,chip,motor mounts,sharktuner,wheels/tires,and there's a supercharger on the way. Ok, when I started on this site you guys were all" DIY and you can save a lot"."These cars are so well built, so ahead of their time, just find a good one and you're all set. I think I found a good one,it's never 'needed' anything, But I find myself with a bit of a problem. I think I need help. Where will it end. Can I ever go home? How long will my wife understand? Where am I going to get the money for a limited slip? Am I evolving or devolving? You know what....I think I need big reds....

Ron has come closest to realizing the real issue. it is not an addiction, it is a disease! or maybe a mental disorder. Thinking of it as a medical condition is better than the idea of an addiction. Once you contract Shark'itis (or the more general form that I have, Posche'itis) you must accept a few facts:
1. it is incurable
2. the most you can hope for is enough budget to treat adequately.
3. you will NEVER be done fixing/upgrading things as part of your therapy.

let's see... I think it has been over a week since my last order to Roger.
must ... stop ... buying ... parts ......

with my budget I can barely keep my disease treated. my wife is not adequately sensitive to my distress. and currently with the 928 at a friend's garage undergoing a lot of refresh work and the 911 on jackstands in my garage getting new Koni sport adjustable shocks along with a few other items. she tends to get annoyed at how much time I spend wrenching.

sorry to continue this thread but I found it interesting that the first sponsor add I saw when logging in today was for treatment of addiction.

clearly someone thinks there are lot of addicts that frequent this site. but will any of us call for help?

928-oholic?? Shark-aholic?? Addiction, Smadiction!! I thought this was going to be a tech session on the 928 Porsche.

OK! If you must know, my name is Jerry. I bought my first 928, an 87 S4 I found on Auto Trader about 4 years ago while I was looking for some kind of car to drive since I was tired of my Ford Pickup as a daily driver. I had been looking at Cadillac Elderados and 928's. Don't laugh--they actually have a little bit in common. Anyway, since I had been involved with Porsches since before many of you were born, the 928 won out. I drove it home from LA, CA, and only got one ticket as my speed happened to be dropping past 94. He wrote the ticket for 84 and saved me the trouble of going back there to deal with it.

A few months later I found another 928, and 88 S4, on eBay, and flew to Ohio and drove it home. Then my wonderful wife said, with a note of sarcasm,"WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO, COLLECT 928'S?????" Me, being fairly quick witted on occasion, had the brilliance to say "GOOD IDEA!" Now I have six of them.

All she says now when another shows up is "where and you going to put it?" Of course we have 3/4 acre where we live and we own the place next door as a rental and it is an acre and three quarters. I don't rent all the lot with the house so I have a lot of room to expand.

My wife--she's a keeper, isn't she??

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. However, it is only the tip of the iceburg, er, Sharkburg??

uhn, err, is this the thread you are supposed to read if you are thinking about getting rid of your 928?

No I'm not, just wondering what one would actually be doing at a real 928 addicts meeting.

Now go away, I need to look over that airbox stud and see if it is dirty . . . again.
What, that $7,000 bicycle I just bought isn't being ridden. Who has time to ride when there's a new wood trim kit from Nicole to install?
Children can feed themselves, I have to check the suspension height . . .again.
We have to go to your parent's house again. The kids can sit in the back, it's only an hour away.

Nope, no problem here.

I meet with this support group just about every day. I appreciated the support that I have received from this group in regard to my addiction. My being a Porscheholic goes much deeper than what I was able to tell before, but my previous closing line about the tip or the "sharkburg" is pretty accurate. I had more Porsches then and have added some more since then. I actually now have 17 Porsches. I have two of my first three 356Cs, (13) 928s and (2) 924s. I justify having all of these with the claimed need to be able to fit various replacement and modification parts that I design and fabricate for them for myself and for you others in the support group. I also have some grandios plans to restore, refurbish, and/or modify many of these that I have. I have parts for them stored all over the place, mostly that I have bought on eBay, but some from others in the support group, including many from the legalized outlets for them. Someday I will get the parts all organized so I can find what I need when I need it rather than ordering another one because it is easirer and quicker. Right now, however, I like the parts the way they are because it is becoming more frequent that when I am looking for something I am thrilled to come across a part or group of parts that I forgot I had.
