Flappy is getting fixed this Thursday. But then what will any further dyno results tell you? To be useful, Brian would have to revert to the stock sidecover, TUNE the motor's fuel mixture, dyno, install the spacers again, TUNE the fuel mixture (if needed), and then dyno again. Too bad the flappy was not working before and the mixture was not optimal.

Yep, basically useless dyno results, still no proof these work or how well they work. Sucks that Brian spent $$$ on dyno and shop time. Mine are still sitting on the workbench. I doubt a before and after dyno is happening on my car and $$$, just some data logging to see how the motor is affected, some sharktuning, then a dyno.

Guys
Keep in mind it appears my flappy has been dead for a while...so the before and after runs were both with a dead flappy....plus the flappy closes at 5500 anyway.....& there is significant gains above 5500.... I'll dyno again once the flappy is fixed.....why not...that makes like 12 pulls.....oh well.....

Hey Brian, I should have been more specific. I was really looking at the loss of power below 4600, not the best thing for a street car. I would think a functional flappy would negate the loss, but you are taking a $$$ hit with extra dyno time, and now another intake R&R.

That track car is one damn slippery slope, I thought boost was bad!

Also keep in mind, as long as it is kept open, you gain the 50hp you lost in the upper mid range 3700 to 5200rpm, but after that, there is no difference open or closed. Best thing to do is to pin that flappy open. drill a pin hole in the exposed shaft and lock the pin on the intake. No RR, problem fixed. Heck, I used a needlenose vicegrip for a while to keep it open with some rubber bands! ")

I'm seriously thinking about removing the passenger side plate...then pulling the two screws and removing the flappy, except for the center shaft..... way easier.....the widow gets delivered tomorrow and I'll take a better look at it!

Its so easy to arm-chair quarterback these things and sit back and request dynos this way and that.
Brian, thanks for your efforts and time.

The improvement is real, and I will go on record again at what I expect: about 10 HP on a box-stock 928, and about 30 HP on a boosted 928. Stroker motor? something in-between.

But, even at 10 HP - where else can you add 10 HP in about an hour for this little $$ ?

Hi Carl,

I should be able to dyno run your IMF spacers here in Le Mans France. The fact is, i'm a member of club Porsche 928 (ex Amicale 928), and for sure, if the result is conclusive, it will interest somme people here.

These spacers have been in use by many 928 owners for a number of years now.
You would think that someone out there would have some results we can all see.
Sterling has used them for as long as I remember. Maybe he can add some comments?
