Congrats with the Championship! So you race a 996 Cup - what was the competition, mostly 996 or 997 as well?

Did anyone (Mr. Wedeking?!) from factory comment on you racing a 928 - I suppose you mentioned it...?

The cars could not be more different. When I first started driving the cup car many of the 911 drivers asked me if i was ready to sell that old 928 now. I had to inform them that my 928 did several things better than this new 911. I think they were a bit surprised to hear that.
To start with the 911 has very little torque compared to the 928 so gear choice is critical. It also make being smoother more important as exist speed is crucial. Fast is slow out does not work on the 911. The cup car does have racing ABS which is terrific and allows you to go in very deep and just let the computer take over. The 928 is much more stable at high speeds and feels more relaxed. In the banking at Fontana its 10 mph faster and I can put the 928 just about anywhere while the cup car is a wild and white knuckle ride. The thing I like best about driving the cup car is that it is a spec series so it really comes down to the driver.

I did stop by the Hofbrauhaus. What intrigued me most was the locking racks for your own beer stein. Very unique.

The series had both 996 and 997 and we raced together but were scored seperately. A few pros that know I race a 928 did ask how I got there.

Hope this isn't a stupid question - did the Yokohama Cup series take into account drivers weight?

Not a stupid question at all. When I ran World Challenge they weighed the car and driver as we came off the track. In this series it is just the car weight but since you cannot modify the car it's almost pointless.

I thougth they weighted the cars with driver, so that is surprising. 50-75lbs between drivers , so that could be an advantage.

Great storys of the trip. Im jealous! That would have been quite an experience!

Also, great job in the series. We all knew you had it in you!

Yes, it's rather unique all the way around there. Even the 4 litre per fist large breasted, large waitresses that can probably snap your arm in half in an arm wrestling match. Glad you enjoyed yourself!

Great story, winning a cup car series speaks greatly to your skill and talent ... the GPS story was funny. I had the same problem when renting a car from Frankfurt and programming the GPS to find the Nuerburgring. In the German language, umlauts are important!

What I'm surprised about is that no one else commented on you wearing a suit and tie! I've never seen that at your shop. The Germans can be quite formal. I lived in Munich for 2.5 years and enjoyed it.
