The difference is that I expect your 800K are documented, or at least you could type up a log...or something. This guy seems to be all shrugs regarding this car's history. "Wiper blades"? Ooooh! Bite me.

Maybe it's not the gear. The odometer in my 78 only works when it feels like it. I ordered and replaced the gear, but that wasn't the problem. I have bigger bugs to chase on it than that though.

The odo on the old very brown 1980 before I bought it started rolling over 100,000 miles at a roll....then broke ! Something which they do from time to time. In Texas , anything over ten years old gets recorded as TMU true milage unknown.... because too many things can happen in ten years !

was serviced regularly by local Porsche dealer-----but the odometer was never fixed (?)

no information about TB/H2o pump replacement---very bad. (OK, so it's a non-interference engine.....still, it's no excuse)

located in Manhattan Beach for it's entire life = rust, even if it's been garaged.

I agree, this is nothing to get really excited about.........

Not alot of records for a 30 year old Porsche with 80,000 miles. Great color combo should help it fetch some coin

Hey Chuck - that car has been for sale here for something like a year. I'm pretty sure it was around when I was looking 11 months ago at least.

For $6000 it better be damn near perfect. From the photos you can see the car has been lowered (slammed?) - you would want to make sure that the alignment is corrected for that as well as that it wasn't done thoughtlessly. The AC and alternator sit low on these cars, and if you lower one that much you need to be really careful or you'll likely find yourself -1 accessory and with a broken block.

That car is also some flavor of metallic brown - not the pure, flat, brownest-of-brown browns available.

Jim, T5 moccabraun (with a 'cc' instead of a 'kk') is what's printed in my 1979 doorjamb. Don't know if it was an option or not though. It's about the color of a hershey bar.

My friend is restoring a 78 the same outside colour but with the black and blue pascha. I really like that interior better but I have only seen it in his car, the tan interiors always look like they are melting to me. Its still an awsome find someday I hope to get one that colour and maybe a white one also

The brown 80 has been on CL for some time. The last dealer listing it advertised as some sort of rent to own thing and I recall them wanting closer to $9K for it. The 1BIG195 license plate kinda sticks in the memory. It might be worth it at $6K to someone, but that's 3X what I paid for my 78 with 5-speed and LSD. Of course, my 78 has not really run in a month so who knows what kind of a deal that was.

My first 928 when I lived in PA and MD was a petrolbluemetallic '78 euro 5 spd! Loved the color. Not too fond of the white/black pasha interior it had though. This car's interior looks far nicer to me. Great car. Because of MD law, didn't need a cat converter (which I had to make the testing station look up come registration time). I hope someone in the DC area is still enjoying it!
