Default Back-up switch location on an 82

My back up lamps are not working and noticed a new switch in my box of goodies. Where is it located and will this be another adventure!

does box of goodies mean parts that were removed and are now EXTRAS?
First check the bulbs, then check the connections in the spare tire well.
The backup light switch is screwed into the front left side of the trans just aft of the TT to trans interface

Location is very easy to get to, and should be no problem compared to the trauma you went through with the shift coupling. When you remove the switch, there is a plunger that may either stay in the trans or come out with the switch. It only goes in one way, just don't let it get away from you...

Alan, we already know from Tampa's shift coupler thread from a couple days ago that he has a 5-speed...

This switch was new so I assume there was a reason for it being ordered "or not".

You can check the existing switch easily enough without removing it -- just use a continuity tester. Might be a bit awkward reaching past the heatshield but should be doable.
