Hi Mark,
I was sent pictures of the 1984 Daytona racer that is in their warehouse by the museum curator, Klaus Bischoff. At Daytona last year he told me the racer will have to be refurbished before it's displayed. The pictures he sent looked as if the racer just left the track with all it's decals and numbers still on the car. It does not have an engine installed since the race engine was used for other tests/races.
One thing I did not have them confirm was if it had a aluminum or steel body. Maybe you can do this if you can get back in with your friend? Or have him do it? Probably have to explain where he should test the body I imagine?
Have fun,
Constantine

ok i have a question
why is there the red mark on the speedometer at 55kph?
why would there be that red identifier at such a low speed?
Also, it maybe the very last 5 speed gts, but i hate to say it, it looks kinda......boring. I was hoping the last GTS would be some cool exterior color (although midnight blue used to be my favorite exterior color) I would hope it had some crazy interior or full leather at least. It looks....dare i say, garden variety.
Maybe its just the stock 17" wheels, or the seemingly high ride height, but the car doesnt look that good. just thoughts aloud here

Some cars have different markings in speedo which show what is slowest speed when certain gear can be safely used for example. It could also be common urban area speed limit in several European countries at the time. There could be something in owners manual. Same red line is in earlier GTS also.

Tell that to a German cop who just wrote you a ticket for doing 55 in a 50 km/h zone. Or 12 km/h in a 7 km/h pedestrian zone... ![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
No, seriously, the general city speed limit in Germany is 50 km/h. But there are lots of residential streets with 30 km/h (18 mph), or places where you are only allowed to drive at walking speed. A friend of mine got a ticket in one of those. She has to drive through it every day... pure torture!
