Okay, maybe I'm just dumb, but how do you get them uner a car if you only have a floor jack? I can lift the entire side of the car from the skid brackets in front but the opposite side won't slide under the jack points because they are still to low. I could do the rear with a jack under the suspension beam, with the front on jack stands under the skid brackets. That will let me position the dolly at all four points, but then how do I lower the car? I agree it would be no problem with a lift.

Enlighten me please.

I agree this might not be very convenient if you are trying to do it with only one floor jack. I would suggest : lift front and set up jack stands under suspension, then lift rear using jack under the crossmember. Roll dolly under and drop car.

I know that I'm Mr. Overkill when it comes to tools but I have 4 of harbor freight's cheapy aluminum "racing" jacks. They are great for situations like this.
