Default what wheels to choose? pic request

Hello everyone!, recently I have got rid of my 944s and swapped them for a 928gt

the car is a black 1990 928gt, its quite low, but it has the factory wheels 16"

I am looking forward to buy some bigger wheels, 18" maximum 19"
am only interested in Porsche factory wheels, no aftermarkets, as I have had the 996 turbo II wheels on my 944s I'd like to try something different.

have seen the 997 carrera wheels on a black 928, they look good but I am not sure, maybe someone can post pics from different angles

I also like the sport techno wheels, but I didn't find any picture of them at all

here are my previous rides

last nonporsche (1984 528i conversed into M535i)

first porsche (1990 944S2 sadly crashed )

second porsche (1989 944S2)

Congratulations! Can you post pictures of your GT?

For wheel ideas start here: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-forum/253898-who-s-got-the-coolest-wheels-gimme-pix.html

There are only a few factory wheels which will fit "properly" on the 928 (i.e. "proper" as defined by the factory)-- the offset on the front wheels for the 928 is different than others (ET65, compared to the usual 50-55 offset). The 17" "Cup" and "Cup-II" wheels were used on 928's and can be found with the ET65 offset, but the factory never fitted 18" or larger larger wheels to the 928.

The club-sport (16") wheels were ET60 so even the factory saw some latitude with respect to offset, and many folks here have fitted 50-55 offset in 18" or larger sizes and are happy. Read through that thread, lots of great ideas there.

Here's our '88s4 with Cup-II wheels (factory 993.362.124.05 front, 993.362.128.00 rear), they are our favorite wheels for the 928.

If your 928 is low - 1st you need to adjust the ride height back to the correct specs - search for ride height adjustment, get Jim Morehouse's set of 928 CDs with all the 928 info there is in the whole world on them. I think Roger at 928sRus sells them.

A rough guide to correct ride height is top of rear tyre is a gnats above the edge of rear fender, top of fron tyre is about 3 fingers gap edge of front fender.

Once you've got the ride height correct and had the wheel alignment adjusted (VERY IMPORTANT - search here also for that) Then fit the new wheels and tyres

I have aftermarket 997 Carrera wheels on my SE in my avatar - 18x8 and 18x10 with 225/40/18 F and 265/35/18 these sizes are close to the original rolling radius so don't cause speedo errors and don't cause ABS or PSD errors.

Carrera III's are my favorite. You should be able to get 18"x10"s on the rear of your GT without spacers or rolling the fenders.

Here is a picture of the S4 I used to own that had a set on it.

thanks for the suggestions, no pictures yet, because the car hasn't got any bumpers, removed for painting, and what I meant with factory wheels was not the exact wheels only for the 928

I meant no Enkeis, OZ racing, Rota, lexanis etc

somehow these seem to be interesting

996 sport techno wheels, 18x8 and 18x11

has anyone a picture of them on a black 928

If your looking for something different then these are available...and I really like them.

Kind of a modern Aston Martin look.

Mine are reproductions and can be had in 18" or 19" for well under $1000.00 with center caps.
My rears are 10" wide with 47mm offset (see attached pic ) which seems to be perfect with no spacer running 285 rear tire.

Porsche brand are all 19" and pricey but available.

Why would you not consider a reproduction? These are very well made and at least half if not 3 times less expensive.

These are Keskin 18" reproductions. If you want the original Porsche Speedlines, you'll most likely have to rob a bank first..

Cheers,

somehow not fond of replicas, and there are some reasons for that, on my previous gray 944 there were original porsche wheels, 18" no trouble with them, but on my everyday car vw sharan I bought something similar to those speedlines, but made by RH - boy they suck, ok the roads aren't the best here, but man in 2 weeks the wheels were not round anymore, nothing similar on the original wheels though, + the suspension was also much stiffer on the 944 than vw and still
