Default Progress...

New Laso WP installed last night. 3 helicoils installed and all bolts torqued to 7 ft/lbs.

Both rear wheel wells cleaned and everything is ready for installation tonite.
Shoud go well, but I'm sure the e-brake springs and shoes will give me a run for it.

If all goes well, will install the Kuhn iair/oil seperater and coolant bridge, then lace up the Gates belt.

Default More progress

Decided to prioritize getting Perl running first.
Installed the Kuhn air/oil seperator, and laced up the new Gates belt.
The belt is snug! ...and my marks are spot on.
Man, I feel like I still have a ****load to get done before SITM!
Let's see if we can get her running tomorrow evening.

Jim, what are you sealing the underside of the Kuhn separator with? Early 16V gasket? Or just a lot of RTV?

Default Marathon race to finish!

Done! ...and she runs too.

Wow, I don't think I've ever worked so hard in one wrenching session.
12 hours straight (well, with a break to pick up my kid from school).

Muffler guy at 8am, then home for a wash and vacuum, then off to SITM I go!

Will get some pics tomorrow.

Default Back from SITM 2011...

Perl ran great on the trip!
I, on the other hand, was a little low on fuel...
770 miles RT.

I few items to note:
The X-pipe and GT exhaust is NICE.... but I need to lose the cats. They're 400cpi and really choke the sound. A little low rpm drone too. So they are gone.

Also gots to replace the bronze bushes in the rear coupler with the new delrin ones. Buzzing btw 4500-5000 rpm

Being able to adjust the Koni's is really cool!
I tried full soft for this trip which was AMAZING on the highway, but not so hot in mountain twisties (bottomed out in tight downholl switchbacks).
So when I run interstate with the wife and kid, will set it to soft. When I go to SITM, will firm it up. Takes about 10 minutes per corner.

Car gets a little "rumbly" at 95-105mph. Smooths out well at higher speeds.
So I'll have to figure that one out. There is nothing worse the a high-speed rumble to loose confidence.
However, the new rear brakes make for confident quick braking from speed.

Next up on the list:
Install PKlutch, rear Ott-links, Hans's window switches, R&R AC system

Default Perl's first concours, Richmond Porsche Meet

Had a great time yesterday at the Richmond Porsche Meet. What a nice event!
Thanks to the Shenandoah PCA and Dr Howard Faunce for hosting.

I had a great time getting Perl ready for her first concours, a "top-side".
There were 4 928s, a 951 and a 968 coupe in our class.

Congrats to George for first in class with his Coral Red GT. What a nice car!

Great to see Bill Sanders and his GTS, and meet his lovely wife Jill.

Fantastic cars all around to include a Cayman R, new Speedster, a sharp low-mile stock 993 CarreraS, etc.

My camera has been screwey with odd light metering. Sorry for the shoddy pics.

Love the new 19" Fuchs on that 911! They're like $7k for a set, though (as much as another project 928!).

Let me know when you're up for some AC work. Not this weekend but next might work. I'd need to hear from Roger before then though (re: bushings, etc.)...

Hey Mike,
I'm ready with the parts.
Gonna run up with the wife and kid and plunk 'em in a hotel at Tyson's. Shopping and pool action will keep them well ocupado and happy.

Saturday wrenching would be ideal for me.

I'm trying to light a spark under my vendor for the SSK this week, to get that done.

Nice what you said in your Kraken thread, of which I'm following as well. Keep the updates coming. You are just getting started. Can't wait to see it get paint!

If I recall correctly, it needs a new compressor and conversion to R-134a, right?

If you come up to Baltimore, we could drop off the wife & kid with my wife and kid (3) and they could spend the day together. It's another hour from here to the shop, though. We could also invite other locals out for a wrenching session.

Awesome. I'd like to have that in hand when we do the ac work so we can do them at the same time. Looks like an easy install... famous last words.

You are so right... just getting started. Your thread is the gold standard. Or maybe the pearl standard.
