I have a set of the burgundy mats arriving tomorrow morning so we will see about the quality.

As far as I can see these are the only style of mat available from Porsche for the 928.

Part number 000 044 801 43
Colors
Black 5FV
Blue 4KV
Grey D5O
Midnight Blue 3GE
Beige 8UT
Chester Brown 6SC
Classic Grey 4XR
Burgundy 8MD

OK, I thought I would post up.

I have a set of 3yo lloyds mats in the 928 (passenger side shown) and just got a new set for the GTI and they are completely different.

The GTI and the 928 were both Ultimat.

It is clear that they have changed several things including pile of the carpet and the stitching style. The GTI mats are a much more dense pile than the 928 mats as well as tighter stiching. I will post pics as soon as I get them uploaded.

I noted a similar difference with the original Lloyds that came with my GT as compared to the recently purchased set for the S4. The S4 mats looked worn after one summer which was extremely disappointing. Lloyds doesn't have a phone number either so I can't contact them to determine why the difference and if they can offer alternatives.

My burgundy mats made it in very quickly (thanks Roger!). I might be the only one that didn't know this but I guess the burgundy in the newer cars is significantly different than the older ones. These mats are very nice but they look almost pink in comparison to my interior color on the 85 which is very dark. Anybody in the opposite situation and want to trade? I have a brand new set that is still in the plastic!

Do they have holes (or slots) on the bottom side near the seat rails?

No they come with these clips that clamp on to the mat and then you push the sharp pin into the carpet below?

They look like they match your upper portion perfectly. Your lower carpets appear to be more of a purple color or maybe they have faded?

Or they're holding 20 years of dirt.

I was very disturbed at what I got out of my floormats when I used a carpet cleaner machine on them - made them look like new tho' (I have the heavier Porsche mats with the slots for the tequipment retainers).

To keep either OE or aftermarket mats in place that don't have the slots, I install a metal grommet directly above the "post" and plastic nut that hold the OE carpet in place. The grommet is large enough to accomodate the stem of the plastic nut. Push down on both carpets, iinstall the nut, make 2-3 turns, and they never move.
