Sidehatch,

It doesn't have to be perfect.

I've got one running daily with a cobbled-up harness. Has a bunch of splices, several with crimp fittings, all well-taped, though. Will build another harness with the right parts later. And, BTW, its just wire. No way, no how, worth $1000.

What does have to be perfect is the removal of all grains of sand from that intake. Even if you have to use 65 different brushes in a bathtub full of soapy water, it needs to be sand-free.

Rog, the wine I can understand, but importing a turkey is abit far fetched

I am guessing it is yellowtail.

George,
if you arent good with soldering you CAN take a butt crimp connector remove the plastic on it, crimp it on and put heatshrink over that. It will work as well, it just will not last near as long as a soldered connection.

That point can't be stressed enough. There has been at least one instance where a 928 engine was ruined when a sandblasted intake was installed without having had all of the sand cleaned out from inside of it.

When you splice these in do you have to watch for polarity, or does it matter which wire connects to which?

Hey George...how many of those connectors do you need? We might have a few from a spare parts harness we can throw you.

Hey George,

I would not recommend getting used sections of harnesses for the injectors for your car.

A couple of points to this, #1, they are old and brittle, #2 they could have frayed wires which may not show up right away, but will cause you to want to tear your hair out later, #3 is the design, the newer ones have a MUCH better design which makes them easy to remove without struggling and possibly breaking them.

You have a PM on the way as well.

Default Flappy Washer Order w/pics

Hello George,
Got your question about the order of washers. I have mine apart now and took a look and snaped a few pics. I don't know how to post pics to PMs so I responded on this post to get you the pics.

You mentioned 2 plastic washers, 2 metal flat washers, and a wavy (spring type washer). When I looked closely at mine, I have one additional metal flat washer.

Here's the pic before removal from the intake....
01.gif

The flat metal washers are placed on the inside (the smaller diameter end) of the plastic washers, like so....
02.gif

The spring metal washer (wavy one) goes between them, like so...

04.gif

I believe this is the order and orientation of the washers. First the plastic, then one flat metal washer, then the spring washer, then the spring, followed by another flat metal washer, followed by the other plastic washer. Mine had one additional flat metal washer that I believe went on the very end (last washer). However, I'm not certain of this and will have to look at the intake to confirm how the assembly rests on the intake. My intakes are still getting powder coated. If I'm mistaken, then the 3rd washer came from between the two plastic washers (the plastic washer closest to the throttle plate). If you do not have a 3rd metal flat washer, then you should have both of yours on the inside between the two plastic washers as shown.
05.gif

Here's what it should look like with the spring/washers assembled and under tension....

This is the order I believe mine was put together. Hope this helps - let me know if you need anything else.
