Talking 928 Strut Brace

Hi All

I ordered some parts from Roger (928Rus) and someday he might even send me a bill lol

Anyway they arrived promptly and one of the parts was one of Carls
Aluminum strut braces...

Fitted it yesterday and it fitted perfectly and drilled a couple of
holes in it for my Nitrous Plate...and its THICK !!! It took me 2
charges of my Snap-On drill to get 3 holes in it.

Also, out of interest, the cars handling feels different, much more
like a Race car, sharper more solid handling although it feels more
bumps in the road now...

I think its because its a more solid item then the standard strut
brace, which must have been flexing more than I thought.... when you
handle both its obvious which is stronger and more
solid...and the car certainly knows it as well.

For anyone Racing a 928, I would recommend one to sharpen up the front
end....

Hi

I did consider it but for straight lines I don't need it so went for one of Carl's LSD 8 plate kits instead and some new belly pans...

Brett,
Thats the problem with the World today - customers want there parts and pay for them as well 8>)
What ever next.
The blue air tubes look good as well.
I also have some nice SS bolts for the cross brace that will be in the next shipment of goodies.

Hi Roger

That would be great thanks

I dont suppose you have any SS bolts that would replace the 2 black bolts in the picture that are drilled through the brace ?? They would have to be longer than the end ones though and have nuts for underneath ?

I will happily pay for them of course...if you ever send me a bill lol

All the best Brett

Man there is a LOT going on in there!

Thanks for the post. I often feel like I can 'feel' a difference when I do something with the car, but I'm sure it's in my mind.

In this case I'm sure you're right, I don't know if it's by design or not, but the stock brace definitely has lots of flex. I wonder if that just transfers the stress to some other point though. Anyone?

Brett - That's an interesting setup! You've got me thinking about NOS instead of a supercharger someday... Where did you get the air tubes to your air box (with the blue bands?) And also, where do you have the hose running from your oil fill going to? Is it going to a catch can??
Thanks / Bruce

Hi Bruce

The Air tubes are from ROGER at 928RUS ...and very cheap as well, about one third of the price that I would have paid in the UK...they even have the correct hole for the cam cover breather...

And yes lol...good guess, that blue breather pipe goes to a catch can at the front as when I run a lot of Nitrous it creates a lot of water vapour and I prefer it in a bottle to be tipped away rather than in my oil

Nitrous installation is MUCH cheaper than a Supercharger, think under $1000 for 100 hp extra, and also your 928 will be perfectly normal (driving and fuel consumption) UNTIL you hit the switch

All the best Brett
