Default Screwy Autozone Pricing

LMFAO... Live in Indy, order part off AutoZone.com, price is almost 50% hirer using my zip code, lie and use a California zip, part online says Duralast, Bosch part (0 280 140 515) arrives, and get this... it was hipped from Memphis, TN.

It’s probably a FedEx fulfillment center or something and it arrived one day after receiving delivery confirmation… got to love the little victories in life!

I feel sorry for the poor guys living in Massachusetts… They charge them $219.99 for the same part.

Wow! It is $219 where we are also (WA state).

So did they ship it to Indiana? Or did you have to have it shipped to a Calif address?

Thanks!

Part was shipped to Indiana, no problem!

I just priced the part using CA zip code (90028), added to cart. The ship to and bill to addresses were both Indiana.

If you've priced part before and it doesn’t ask for you zip, you either need to delete your cookies or logout and create a new profile.

I'm beginning to wonder if this isn’t a pricing mistake thinking $239 is what they intended for the LA market. I’ve been messing with pricing for other parts and haven’t found the same difference.

If you are in the market for an ISV, I'd say buy now but don't be a Bogart! If everyone starts ordering a whole bunch… it will get noticed. Usually, without a lot of attention items like this can go unnoticed for a while.

At $139… I suggest buying one at a time.

That’s my $.02

Talking ISV Updates 6 years on please.

Hi Guys
I believe I have the same problem with my 89' S4
Starts great at first crank but a few minutes later it won't idle. Runs like ...
What can I say, it stalls if I don't treat the brake like a clutch and try to keep pressing the accelerator to keep going. very embarrassing at the lights.
My question is " Do I replace with Porsche part or other options and whats the difference between them all.
Original part number:
• Bosch 0 280 140 509
• BMW 13 41 1 286 065
• Peugeot 0345 76
• Porsche 928 606 161 00

Regards
Eric

before swapping out the intake has the MAF ever been rebuilt?
is the O2 sensor new?
has the temp 2 sensor ever been replaced.
has a ground cleaning been performed?

Just a quip to add.

I had an '87 in on Friday that had a bad idle, rough running issue. Hammer said "low/high power" and "IACV not detected or faulty". Put direct power to the ISV and it clicked with ease, checked the pin outs from the LH and all was good with proper voltage/grounding. Swapped in a new LH and the car ran great.

Add another error when an LH goes bad.

I too have seen a "high" idle on an 86 (1400 rpm) only when hot and intermittently, it was also the LH, thinking the ISV driver circuit.

OP, are you sure all 8 cylinders are firing when your idle drops ?

Hey Dwayne

If you have the one for '85/86 you put power to the middle connector...ground the one on one side or the other will see the valve open / close..that's how I did mine..I got a little 12 V power thing from Radio Shack...while I have the "T" off I pulled it today and cleaned it...it snaps open and closed so fast I'm afraid to stick a finger in there

I think my issue has been a too-tight throttle cable and the idle switch was not consistently tripping...it got worse of course when it warmed up....hotter she got...higher she'd idle..needs more slack in there than you'd think...I had everything off when it was warm and was adding slack to the throttle cable and was surprised how many turns it took before I finally saw the throttle linkage stop moving back to full rest....live and learn .

Funny, I just inquired on availability of serviced LH units with Louie and got the 'v2.2 don't typically go bad' refrain. Davek, who got yours squared away?

And I'll mutter again that, of all the substitute parts and up-teching to modern engineering that's been done, I really wish we could find a better mechanism than the IAV..at least the S variant.

Hi, the "failed LH" was the one that came w/ the car which I never ran more than idle as when I got it the engine was in poor shape w/ no water, nasty oil.

Once the Freshly installed and re-done engine was running and during some early rides two issues came to light, the Fuel pump(had a flat-bed ride) and the High idle.

Once I narrowed the High Idle to the LH, I swapped them both w/ known good non-opened spares so I could tune and establish a good running engine.

Then I used another good used pair that had been previously opened and installed PKens S300 chips and '87 FP regulator

Now the two sit in a box marked "Bad HL", someday I'll send them out for repair and testing, I'm guessing that would be at least > $200. ?

PS: I just acquired another spare pair along w/ another running 86.5

FYI, Rock Auto lists the ICV for an '85 for $151.79 (7 years after the original post).
