It appears its a 944 part # 944 606 170 02 but the only Bosch part # that lines up is the "engine speed sensor" but I thought that was the crank position sensor?

Engine Speed Sensor 0 261 210 003 this is the same part # for 944's and 928's

Default Testing an ISV

Been dickin' around with mine (an '85). It fooled us at first because of testing with wrong polarity.
Just use a bench 12v power supply or battery. The center pin is positive, grounding either of the adjacent pins will click it open or click it closed. If you ground the center pin and apply 12v to the adjacent pins, you get very strange behaviour, leading you to think it's defective.
Bought a new one anyway and got identical results.

Remember that the '85 is very different from the '87-up.

How did you get it for $139?

It's a $199 when I looked it up for 1987 S4
http://www.autozone.com/N,15900207//...eResultSet.htm

Are you suggesting to look it up under a different vehcile or model year and get a better price?

I know I want the bosch 0 280 140 515 = Autozone AC4236

That’s BS… when I clink on this link it still shows up as $199.

Could it possibly be tied to location?

I’m going to try it at home using a different zip.

Cool zip code Ryan!

Logged off and tossed my cookies and now it shows up as $139!

If I use my zip code it jumps back up to $199, but 90028 works just fine... too wierd!

Hopefully, it will ship after lying about my zip.

well considering it asks for zipcode to check availability AND PRICE i would sya that yes its tied to zipcode. Who gets what price is for someone else to decide though. I think its odd but i can see the prices changing.

Yeah it is a great zipcode isnt it!

This stings - I just checked my receipt and I was charged $370 for my new ISV. I love the guys at the shop that did the work, but I hate this kind of surpise.
