I never said it didn't. I've no problem with book time for high volume cars. I would expect any competent tech to be able to at least meet book time the second or third time they did a job.

As you guys know, I live not too far from Rayco. Someone I know needed a new clutch for a 996. The dealer quoted him $2400 so he decided to shop around. Rayco wanted $3000. That's right $600 more than the dealer who usually has the highest price. If Rayco is still on here, do you remember him? The guy with the red 996 convertible...? Yeah, he had a different independent mechanic who formally worked for the Porsche dealership and he ended up paying something like $1600 and that was for an OEM clutch.

This does not surprise me as the Porsche dealers here in the Bay Area ( one of the most expensive areas to live in ) are dropping their rates to either match or beat the local and very experienced independent shops.
