Hmmm. The do look similar. No temp sensor in the ebay auction, nor in Carl's piece as well.

Looks like Carl's has the through-flow flaps - good for higher speed cooling.

The 928spec one seems to have all the required stuff for control however.

AFAIK, 928 MS, and 928 Spec both use the same SPAL part#, with their own brackets, and wiring.

(928 MS into thread)

I put a Zirgo 16" 3500cfm puller kit on mine, came with adjustable thermostat and sensor. Works great at all speeds and idle. Draws a good bit of juice but car runs much colder than with the flex fan. Think I paid $80 shipped 3 years ago.

Fit's inside the stock fan shroud with a little work.

Nope, we use the Spal Dual 12"

http://www.spalusa.com/fans/automate..._dualpull.html

Pretty sure Carl uses the Spal Dual 11"

http://www.spalusa.com/fans/automate..._dualpull.html

We add custom water jetted (and bent) aluminum mounting brackets that bolt on to the factory mounting points. Also custom aluminum plates for the wiring and sensor pass thru on the Pre-S4 version, along with custom plug and play wiring harness. S4 has hardwire harness.

We also pre-mount brackets for our optional Aluminum Upper Fan trim and air inlet plates (see pic below). Also available are custom aluminum mounting plates for the ProVent.

However if you want to do your own custom brackets and wiring both of these are available on Ebay VERY cheap..... MUCH cheaper than even Spal sells to us unless we buy hundreds at a time :-(

Here are the links, will help save you some money if you make your own custom stuff..

Dual 11" Spal Fan $189 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-S...mZ370113641120

Dual 12" Spal Fan $259 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPAL-...mZ370116033452

Well, 259 + the custom pieces and work you did Dave are well worth your price. Which I believe includes the variable controller.

Bigger is better!

Unless I and I get paid for it, finding all the connectors, wiring, and putting things together makes me soooo tired, these days.

I can relate, started to build a handful of fans today and realized I was out of the factory fan connectors we use !!!

Yes the 12" is bigger and rests around the perimeter of the core "frame" exactly like the S4 fan housing..

I just wish I had found those guys earlier and/or Spal would have sold them that cheap, these guys even include the pigtail connectors!

Thru Spal in small quantities they cost $299 (Retail is $449.99) , plus $18 for the pigtails, PLUS $20in shipping. Total of $337 BEFORE the mods begin :-(

BTW, on the pre-S4 we use a temp probe for one fan and the second fan uses a factory connector pluged into the original electric fan feed. Gives a 2-stage fan system similar to the S4, no controller needed.
