"This car has actually 66415 original miles and not 166415 miles. The reason behind it is that some modifications where done to this car like custom headers, ingnition racing system, electronic fans and a better CIS fuel injection. This 928 has much more torque that a stock one and it is much faster for that reason the stock odometer could not read the exact speed so a different speedometer was installed. All this happened in the very first year the car was purchased. When the mileage reached about the 40000 the odometer moved automatically to 140000."
This worries me

The old very brown 1980 shows 800,000 plus miles it too decided to roll 100,000 extra at a time ...did it several times it still has the original 85 MPH Max speedo that was demanded by the feds at the time.

came with everything except the window sticker, maintenance log is a 2" thick 3 ring binder going back to 1st owner
the 968 in the background is my latest acquisition, 30k miles and almost perfect... but it was MUCH more than the S4
I recently saw an S4 on Pelican for $3500 that may need a brain box but was pretty decent otherwise (so the owner states)
as I said earlier, be PATIENT... I don't look for cars, they fall in my lap

Rixter, You paid $5k for that one. Man how do you sleep at night?!!
Just kiddin'. That is a massive deal for $5k, and I have seen it guys. Looks like a $15-20k car from up to 6 inches away (that's when everything begins to blurr for me anyway).

I'm in savannah GA. I'm from the boston area though and will be up there visiting my parents for thanksgiving soon. Anyone in the area of west concord have an early 928 I could look at/listen to as some frame of reference?
SteveG, im looking on craiglist and I can't find your car.
$8000 is definitely more than I can swing. Especially with the price of getting it down here added on.

Cajuns looks nice but thats out of my price range by a lot when you add the timing belt and water pump. Also, really only looking at 5 speeds.
Can someone tell me exactly when the body style was updated from the slightly sharper angles on the very early models to the softer look of the mid eighties? Is it just the addition of the spoiler in front that I am seeing?
This is body style I am really interested in:

The 86 in this avatar came delivered at $2085 with 73000 on the odo. Then, $2200 or so in common replacement parts (MM, TB, WP, distributors and rotors, brakes/rotors/seals, Fuel pump and line kit...) and $625 for tires. Rescued it from the back lot at the P dealer from an owner who had it for 20 years.

How do you put a better CIS system on a NON-CIS car? Speedo couldn;t keep up with the power mods? I have that same problem.

I bought my 81 OB for $5300. It's an auto and in pretty excellent shape. I didn't know about Rennlist before I bought it, but I got lucky as it was a member who rarely posted here other than to get help. Previous owner did mostly all the maintenance on the car. A couple things didn't work like the wiper pump and cruise control, but that doesn't bother me.
I showed it off to the guys in the local club and they went through it and thought I got a really good deal. I didn't start off looking for a 928, but when I saw it I knew I had to have it. I think our cars are very underappreciated. That's okay with me as long as I can get an S4 to go with my OB.
