Default Weight of power seats?

Aren't they about 40 pounds or so? Or more? Anyone ever put together a chart?

Electrics have to be a lot more than 40 lbs. I shipped a set of Corbeau racing seats that were almost 40 lbs each...the electrics are much heavier. For some perspective....I can hardly lift one, but the racing seats were easy to move.

Hey Brendan,

do you want me to give you the weight of the sport seats you are getting?

The power seats that were in my 84 were 54lbs each. These have 6 way adjustment. fore/aft, up/down, and seat back foreward and backward.

Those are for the 78. Yes, thank you. I was trying to figure out if I should have you do another pair for the 82 or I should buy some "recarro/cobra/corbeau/ type seats that recline, and move forward etc.

If you want light and comfortable, the ideal would be to find a set of the early sport seats. I am working on a set now, and these things weight nothing.

Next lightest would be a set of comfort seats of the early style, but manual. They sit really low, are very light, and I can make them as comfortable as your S4 seats.

Actually, you can see below, the difference in height between a manual and a power seat or the early vintage.

I will take the weight of those manual seats also, for you.

Wow Paul. I didn't realize the older seats were that much lower. I've bought a couple of aftermarket seats (one fixed back race seat, one reclining sport seat) and both were a lot lower and lighter, but of course don't match the black leather interior.

I'm looking for as much headroom as possible, so I'll have to keep my eyes open for a set of older seats, maybe I can find a cheap set locally. Thanks for the info.

And yes, oh my god, the stock S4 seats with the electrics are heavy as hell! I almost got a hernia removing my drivers side seat!

Paul,
Thanx for the pix. A stiking headroom difference.
Are these two seats interchangeable without mods?

Manual seats from a 944 are low and light ....bolt right in. Have the flat inserts little "extra" foam.

Yes they are.

The main problem with the early style seats is that the design of the covers was flawed in many respects. That is why you rarely see an OB seat with tight covers.
But they can be updated to the later standards in both comfort and construction.

The 944 manual seats are my favorite to convert. Once converted to sport, they are exactly the same as the 928 true sport seats. Light, strong and very comfortable.

Paul,

Could-you convert 944 manual seats to non powered 928 sport seats of 1986-1995?
Like the ones used into the CS, except mine which has electric seats?

Here is an example.

Thanks.

Samuel
