That style of seats usually keeps the height adjustments electric, all the rest is manual.
The seats below, started life as standard comfort seats. I converted the frames to sport, and added new laminated foam bolsters. The owner of these wanted to keep all the electrics though. As a matter of fact, we added memory to the driver's seat.

Many here had a chance to see and try these in person over the weekend, as they were delivered and installed in one of Marc White's cars at 3rd Coast.

While the design of the inserts is beautiful, the way it was carried out, is the basic reason why very few of these have survived in anything near an acceptable shape.
The whole construction of the inserts relied only on glue to keep it's shape. The pattern of the inserts itself, didn't help either.
They revised all this in the second generation 928S4 seats, and while they carried over the same insert design, it now included a much better pattern and some structural ties and supports.
What I do in the restoration, is to keep the look of the original, while incorporating the construction updates of the later generation and some nice custom touches that would have been impractical in a mass production setting.
For instance, these seats rely on a set of gears under a metal cover for the backrest movement:

The original cover solution was a weird arrangement of cardboard tuck-in and zipper, to hide the whole thing. I saw it as a perfect occasion to tailor a cover and highlight a necessary component of the seat. The added bonus is that you don't have to half destroy the cover to either remove it, or work on the mechanicals.

This is the weight and description of some of the seats that I have in stock.
The scale is not the best, so these figures are not to be taken as 100% accurate. The idea is to have a comparison between the different styles and combination of options. All the seats went on the same scale.
Early style OB seats:
OB full electric, full leather: 47.5 lbs
OB manual, cloth Pascha inserts: 34 lbs
OB manual, full leather: 35 lbs
Early style sport seats, full leather: 34 lbs
Later style, S4 GT GTS:
12 way, lumbar, memory and heat: 63 lbs
8 way with heat: 55 lbs
Sport seat, height adjustment electric, rest manual: 48 lbs
Boxster S seat, backrest electric, height pneumatic, fore/aft manual: 45 lbs
Hope this helps
