Default WOW WHAT A SHOW

I found this thread very interesting. I gotta point out for those of you who can't resist the primitive instinct to insult just because you disagree with someone I must suggest EX LAX. By the look of it you'll lose 30 pounds overnight. and feel much better . ( I'm only referring to those few ) I am currently having a VEMS stand-alone done in my 84 928S. North American version. It will have a coil for every plug system, The restricting barn door AFM will be replaced with a wide-open, clear flowing tube, Dizzy will be gone, Bigger injectors that run at higher PSI. Everything will be electronic and all the power restricting mechanic junk deleted The number one reason for this is to have a tunable system for the turbo which will be later custom installed. I have already rebuilt the engine and done some mods. A port and polish job on the heads, Custom grind cams stated to be a little better than Euro cams. and of course headers and exhaust. I am suspecting that the mods will work better when it's tuned better. The AFM delete will also likely add power and the most significant power changing difference.. I do also suspect the coil per plug will deliver a stronger spark that will burn better and add a touch of power as well. Please understand This is not to increase power but to prepare for the turbo. However, I believe SOME power will be gained as a side effect of all the above. I have searched for a couple of years for what kinda power gains people get from just the stand-alone system itself. and found nothing at all to prove ya or nay to power gains. No one has seemed to have documented the results. I have already done a dyno pull to see the current power. Around 215 at the wheels and 250Foot pounds of torque. Not that dramatic considering the mods. However, the best 0 to 60 MPH I've done so far ( and timed ) is 4.9 seconds. I suspect the modest results are from the lack of tunability to make those mods work at their best.. Now to get to the point. I am having this done separately to the turbo so I can document what kinda difference this entire system will make by itself. I know it's not completely by itself because of the mild mods I've already done to the engine.. I will have it dynoed again and post the result and gains asap after the coil per plug stand-alone system job is done. If I gain 15 HP id be thrilled. I might get more or maybe less. Either way, it is highly unlikely that I won't get any gains at all. We shall see soon. As for the turbo goes my goal is to keep it well within tolerances for safety and shoot for 500 to 550 at the wheels. That is an entirely different discussion when I've had that done. . The person doing both the stand-alone and the turbo is well known and on rennlist also. I won't mention his name so as to respect his privacy. If he wishes to reveal himself that is entirely his right and up to him I can tell you this..... He knows his 928 stuff better than squirells know nuts and every time i chose not to listen to him Ive regreted it. So yes. The inevitable is a few coments saying i wont get 500 RWHP from the turbo. YES I will lol . If you want to follow the results I post YT videos on my FB page called "928 Porsche drivers of BC Canada" ..... Thanks for reading...... Ken
