Wondering how the gas flap with thickened bottom edge works with the stock hinge and the new flares.

(You guys aren't snowed under by 8 feet of snow yet?)
As my car will be resprayed in september, I´m thinking about buying those fender flares but I´m a bit concerned about the filler cap. Does this "thick" one really work? Does the one from the gts model perhaps fit?

best regards chris

Fred Bremier has this car and the rivets and filler are busting out everywhere. Do not use this antiquated method of attaching any body panel.

Do you replace the entire fender Kevin? Or do you massage the metal that is there and possibly add some?

I saw (as many did) Paul's car - it looks really good.

Hi Brendan. I replace most of the quarter, probably 85% of it. The flares I use are fabricated out of spare fenders then wheeled and shaped to a factory fit. Paul's is probably the most recognizable name that got this treatment, but we have done many others including Bill's( Iccy 928) racer that we're doing right now. Louis flares are a wilder example and very very nice in fit and finish for those who want something wider.

I did my own smaller flares on the 78 body. From that, I learned that to do it properly with a larger look, you would need more time, and as you show - to add a completed fender to the area.

I couldn't sell them to you if I don't install. It is complicated at best. You can see pics if you search "Paul Champagne paint project".

Default GTS fender flares

My blue 928 was the "model" for Carl's flares. They fit fine and the gas tank lid fits fine as well. The only problem is after they were glued in place the rivets that were used to hold them in place during the gluing process were not removed. Moisture from the wheel well has worked its way into the rivets and the body work has lifted slightly. You can't see it in the photos but from within 5 feet it is apparent. I'm parting the car and if anyone is interested in them I will carefully remove them and you can have them for $225.

If it helps, the flares on this car were from Jaquemond. I knew the "original" owner of the blue car.

A customer has supplied me these photos of his car after installing our fender flares. They had no problems with the fuel filler door.
