8700 mile 93 GTS is NOT what you'd expect :-(

Excellence Market Update doesn't differentiate between 5-speed and automatic. I can certainly see a $10k value added for a 5-speed. Sounds and looks like this example is NOT a $40k car if it had an automatic, so as a $50k car with a 5-speed seems out of line, although there were two that sold in the $70's about a year ago, 5-speeds and low miles.

Hey, I can make my odo read 8700 too. In fact, I can make it read what ever I want it to read. Sounds like a car to run from. don't worry, the market is so small it'll be a round a long time.

This car can be rescued, but it will NEVER be a concours car! Some things Chuck, Sean and Sterling left out are:
The rear fender liners are showing the classic failure signs with several fastners already pulled out.
Rear bumper cover damage from towing or a minor impact.
Damaged frame rail on the passenger side.
Sanding marks in the roof that were never filled in correctly.
The headlights wouldn't come up because the arm is jambed against the A/C condensor so there is a mechanism or electrical problem.
The tire pressure monitoring warning was on all the time (granted it could be low tire pressure, but in all four???).
Two of the speaker grills were damaged and didn't look repairable.
Minor scuff damage (not wear) to both front seats.
My GTS is a daily driver with exactly 10 times the milage and is in 10 times better condition. I've said it before; the best thing for these cars is to drive them often and hard!

Most all car prices have dropped these days. I have come to find out that a 1993 GTS dealer trade in value is between $16K and $22K...yowza!
There should be enough GTS's out there that are turn key at a reasonable amount of money. You wouldn't have to put the time and $$$ into them. Figure what it would take to get the car to puss condition and compare it to what you could have without doing all of that. Probably the same or less to just buy one in better condition. I think most all of us have discovered this at some point with a 928.

Is the later black a straight black or does it have a clearcoat?
Just wondering if the paint is easy to rescue.
Too bad there's no memory in the LH to log true mileage. (If the LH has not been swapped).

I'm officially out on this one. I traded emails with the seller today and he came uncorked when faced with someone telling him the cold hard truth about his car. Now that he knows (hard to believe anyone couldn't know.....) about all the things wrong with this car he will be honest with the next individual who inquires about it.

Hey, it'd be better for you if it got sold to a noob. It could then spend the next 4 months and $$$$$$ in your shop getting it somewhat right.
