Update on my 91 GT Race Car project
Hey guys & Girls
It`s been a while since I posted, and I think it`s time for an update
Winter is on the move, so I decided I wanted to put a roof over my garden queen
The tent is 3m x 6m
Fairly bright and light inside at daytime, but I have a 500W lamp in the ceiling whitch I`ll soon change into 3 ea. 36W fluorecent lights
Carls louvres and me with too much time on my hands
I hope some air will find it`s way into the air scoops from the engine
The angle of the cut-out is not adjusted since I don`t have the radiator yet. I hope the air doesn`t get too turbulent over the ridge
It`s been a while, and it felt good to put the crest on my Porsche
Blue was the only colour they had

Hey Brian
The idea is to maybe get more air into the engine, but I hope it also will help with cooling the air inside the engine compartment. I don`t think it helps the aerodynamics though
Anyone done this?

Great idea and the car looks good, but why did you put that hole in the hood where you did. Havent you seen the aero charts of our 928? that is near a high pressure zone and might defeat what you are trying to do. PLUS the fact that the highest pressure inlet pressure will be fed from the nose of the bumper or below. the only only hole in the hood should be a vent for air to excape from the engine compartment. Then, the rear ducts are very close to the low pressure zone toward the front. A little further back and it would be a great intake area due to high pressure.
you put a smiley face around "hoping to get some are in the intake" but its kind a problem for that design. Ive done tufts testing of that area, and it follows, perfectly , the wind tunnel diagrams. where you have the vent, will be partially in the low pressure zone. you are better off closing that area off for several reasons. (or moving forward to the nose or at the base of the windshield.) There is a reason you dont find many race cars with shapes like ours with an inlet here.
If you look at these charts, you are putting the inlet in one of the HIGHEST low pressure zones on the car, besides the roof!
Again, the tufts tests i did verify it. This area, air comes out like a smoke stack even at 100mph!!! (even more so!)

I do like the "hinge" flap you created. How did you do this. What the area just rearward is perfect for, is for venting the incoming air that comes in to cool the radiator and feed the intakes. by the way, porsche did a GREAT job of locating the inlets where they did! anyway, if you turn that hinge around, and move it back to grab air after the radiator, that would do what I wanted to do with my simple "cut"
Is your hood made of another material, like fiberglass? it looks thick.
what is the projected completion date? Where are you going to run it?
