+1 on this... license plate is the only light on the rear not monitored. I just found this out when I got pulled over on the way back from Petit Le Mans for no license plate lights.

Well not quite - of the typical lights yes - but the reversing lights aren't monitored and on ROW cars the fog lights aren't either. The turn signals aren't monitored by the bulb control/central warning system - but will flash faster if a bulb burns out due to the flasher unit (so an indirect monitoring).

Maybe you mean 'crumpets'...?
Although this is of course on the stiff upper lip side of the channel where it could be taken to mean 'attractive women' if you like your tea that way...
Of course if you meant 'strumpets' that would be a different thing again... a more 'professional' group of women for sure...
In France you might be more likely drink one's tea with a slice of of 'ooh la la' from the patisserie... or perhaps from the Moulin Rouge (citron optional).
Possibly supplemented by eating a pasty, drinking a pastis or wearing pasties... YMMV
