Unfortunately things can too often get out of hand here. But in the end, we do all love the same car. So that makes us all a family in a way.
Les Canards are ducks which at this time of the year become the attention folks and there 12 gauges............thats what would happen if someone put these 'canard' on my car.

Dont like them. Dangerous...looked "tacked on"..Perhaps on a track car but not on the street. Id nail myself in the shin every time id walk around my car in the garage.
Aerodynamics are a touchy subject. What you think is good may disrupt the aerodynamics of the car as a whole. Whose to say that the canard wouldnt disrupte the airflow up the side of the car and towards the roofline making the outer 8 inches of the rear wing ineffective. Just saying.

There is little about aerodynamics that is intuative and what LOOKS GOOD very often is NOT....and what looks BAD just might be GOOD NASCAR with the new body cars with a real splitter and a real rear wing are all having a very hard time adjusting to all the differences in how the cars handle and behave in traffic. Wonder how much difference it would make to create a curved piece that picks up the air from just under the driving/fog lights and then scoops the air around and up towards the top of the front wheel opening.
With the trailing edge of the 'dive plane' tapering towards the body so shins are less in danger.
The only thing that scares me about the "le canard" right now are the 2 pointy corners that's bound to cause lower appendage grief. I'd round them off cause I'd shirley keep walking into them.
Just a thought.
With CF it shouldn't make that much of a difference laying up a flat piece versus a more complex 3D curved piece, is it?
And with the piece in black, it'd be less obvious than the shiny one Carl posted up. I think I missed page 3 so forgive me if that's been done already.
First of all, everyone STOP calling them canards! second, work on something that will work like some type of splitter, or rear wing mounts. These dive planes dont do anything and look kind of funny without the other elements needed to make them realize the advantages you are thinking they will provide.

did you notice with my dive planes that are integrated into the splitter, that i have not increased frontal area at all? i designed them to make an "air shelf" that guided the air spilling off the nose and re-routed from going under the car, to the side of the car. the dive plane just fills the voild where the air would normally be able to leak under the car or hit the tire, now it is guided to the outside. the little dive plane at the end, alows for some added downforce by kicking the air up with the curved dive plane.

What about when flying inverted....the wing is upside down...how does that work? Just mess'n with ya
The only drag we create on purpose is vi the wing/ground spoilers...you see them deploy on landing, popping up from the wing. Nascar has a similar feature on the roof hatch whne the car spins sideways on its way to being backwards...roof panel pops up..kills lift.
