Thats an interesting tidbit about the twin dizzy as my 84 Euro was also sitting for 5 years and when i went to check the timing the driven dizzy was also a tooth off, mine did have a new belt on it though.
Cant say the same about everything working, as everything i have touched to check on has needed some kind of rework. Keep em flying

Colin,

Did you have the MAF rebuilt?

Once he's driven it for a while, you can install one of my new EZF'r chips in it for him, and give it some mo'.

Hey Ken,

I haven't replaced the MAF but I have let him know that it is most likely due for a replacement. And would be keen on getting one of the EZF'r chips to give a try in the car. I have an exhaust gas analyzer which I am going to hook up and check the AFR etc on the car.

Ken came over and stuffed one of his chips in my 85...had to have the car towed back to the house the other day cause it fried the circuit board. LOL..kidding!

Interestingly enough, the car runs very smooth and I am sure if I got it dynoed, it would show a very nice curve throughout the power band. Also, I have been running 87 octane in the car with no pings...even at WOT. Easy dealio and it would make for a nice improvement on any car that will accept it!

Well I was supposed to get all the rest of the parts for the car today, unfortunatly fedex dropped the ball.

But I did get most of the parts. (felt like christmas) I got the braided stainless brake lines, rear rotors, pads for all 4 corners, all I need is the front rotors, should be here first thing tomorrow.

I got on the braided lines, pads, rear rotors, reattached the hoods, put on the filter and rest of airbox.
Once they were all on I bled the brakes with the help of a friend excersizing his leg.

Once the brakes were good, I then went onto the clutch, which I know how to bleed the factory MC, then bled the slave, and clutch appeared to be good, but the pedal wouldnt move. It was solid, well maybe 1/4" my assistant pumped the pedal a few times giving it some decent pressure, I was under the car and heard *CRACK*, I was looking around for something broken when I realised that it was just the clutch was practically glued together. So I had my assistant give it a few more presses and after a few mild cracks/pops it let out a REALLY loud crack, and then the clutch actuated properly/normally.

I wanted to verify that the intermediate plate was not out of adjustment and that the clutch was working so I started the car and tried to put it into gear, no love. I turned off the car put it into first with foot on clutch and started, another much smaller pop was made and the clutch worked perfectly, with no grinding and as soon as the clutch was pushed the drivetrain stopped rotating from natural friction.

The front rotors will be here tomorrow morning and I am hoping to regain some garage space!

I will get some pictures of the car outside with its owner once it is back on all 4 and ready to roll.

Common occurance on old 356 Porsches after not being driven for a long time the friction disc would rust to the flywheel....start them in gear and then push in the clutch to break them free !

Jim, when we first were depressing the clutch it wouldnt move, it had siezed the friction materials to the PP, intermediate plate and flywheel, clutch pedal would not depress.

Just got word from the owner that he made a few stops and the car worked perfectly, then just up the hill from his house it stopped dead. From the symptoms he describes it sounds like either the fuel pump quit or it could be just a relay didnt like the excersize after the long break.

I will post up pictures tomorrow, and find out what happened.

well found the problem yesterday, fuel pump relay didn't like running for that long and the heat added resistance, once it cooled down worked, decided not to risk it and swapped with the horn relay.

Then I went to another 928 guys house and dropped his fuel tank as the tank to filler neck hose was kinked and he could only ever get around 1/2 tank of fuel. Replaced that raised the tank and then proceeded to install a good used auto tranny as the tranny we took out of the car 4th gear didnt work.
Got that installed and put the suspension back in exhaust back on.
Just need to flush the fluid and she will be good to go.
Would have had time to do that too yesterday had I gotten out of bed before noon. But ran out of time to finish it and it was too late to put up some pics.

Now here is one of my assistant for bleeding the brakes and a couple small things, the owner and myself looking rather scruffy LOL

And last but not least, the VERY happy owner.

He won't be happy long if he keeps sitting on that hood.
