Need some help identifing the purpose of these wires please. Possibly for the A/C or alarm? I see a zip tie so there must have been some grabbers in there. I checked the pictures on the big3 and didn't see the pcd attached to the wires-does everyone have this. The Black wire in the second picture definelty comes from the larger connector-I assume the gray one does as well. Thank you.

Wish I knew. I believe theres an after market alarm-totally shot though. The PO has not returned one e-mail or phone call since I traded money for car. He lives in Huntington Station NY and I live in NC. Hard to make a trip to say WTF, I guess this will be more fun than I thought.
So Wally, from what I gather from your statement-the PCB is aftermarket? What about the Black and Grey wires, do they have a required function? Anyone care to provide a picture of the back of the central indicator so I can ensure the wires are going where they should?
Thanks

in the first picture the LM3914N chip is some type of LED driver. Do you have a LED bar display in your car?
It looks like the Brown wire goes to pin #2 = GND
And the Red look like it goes to pin #3 = 12 vdc (I think)
Here is the typical use for that chip:

The PCB with the chip on it - absolutely not stock!
If both Black & Gray come from the larger connector (check with DMM...?) then the black wire goes tothe Seat Belt warning light (will no longer be operational) and the Gray wire goes to the warning system cancelling button (will no longer be operational).
Since this seems unlikely (no means to cancel warnings...)- if the Gray wire goes to the 4 pin connector instead then it will be for the low level illumination of the central locking switch light (doesn't affect the locked status indication).

thank you for the replies; I haven't seen an LED anywhere-there may have been one there a while ago. Bottom line-pretty safe to get rid of the chip/pcd and reconnect the safety belt warning? There are a lot of weird cables and devices in this car that do not look stock-will have to post more pictures later. I have one coming out of the firewall to the driver side floor-it is a gray flat cable with a blue D type connector; no clue. Thanks again.

here is a pick of the blue "d" connector. There are also two grey wires in the bundle with it (speaker wires maybe). They all go into the fire wall under the pod. Do these look after market to you guys/gals as well?
