yes, Ike is here.........
Euro in the garage (where else?) and everything otherwise secured.
Ken is going to be on the "good side", if the track holds up through the night.
We are not as fortunate, as we are on the "dirty side".
Winds are hitting us pretty good now, in waves.
Should be an interesting night.........

Sterling is about 15 miles south of me, so I think he will be ok. We all know how he is about the SG so I'm sure if something was coming his way he'd have it in a Fall out shelter just in case.
We are only going to get 35-75 mph winds and rain up here, nothing like what they have down there.

Looks like the storm surge has already taken over a good portion of the coast. I hope everyone is high and dry.

Good Luck to all of you in the storm's path. I may sound like your dad, and am probably old enough to be your dad.
This is a very large storm. You will not be out of this until later tomorrow. Be a patient and safe. Got your bathtub filled up so you have water to flush the toilet? No, electricity, no water, no toilet filling up to flush.....

No, he will not.
By the time Ike gets to Dallas/Ft. Worth, they might have 30 mph winds and some rain--maybe as much as 4-6 inches.
We here in Houston/Galveston, are taking a direct hit, with just shy of Category 3 strength winds, and Category 4 storm surge. Galveston currently is near underwater, and has at least 12 structure fires at the moment. The area has over 200,000 homes without power, and may affect as many as 3 million before it's all done with. Gas shortages are spotty. Here in Kingwood, we had no gas (in the stations) since early yesterday afternoon. We expect to have no power for days, if history repeats itself.
We will have at least Category 1 winds (75 mph +) and rain for 6-8 hours starting around midnight tonight........tropical storm forces winds started two hours ago-----
Hopefully, we'll get lucky.
But thanks for asking-

Go get us some video of it Russ. You are far enough out of the way that it will be safe. I'm suprised you didn't take a load out of the state since the ports are closed.

Actually, I hope that those who live in the storm's path have fled to safer areas, and will find no or only minimal damage upon their return.

Many of the folks we know in The Woodlands have lost their power - we are getting intermittent outages. Cel phone use sometimes difficult. I have lost DSL - now using wireless Lots of small branches in the garden but nothing major. Heavy gusts of 60+ mph, but nothing as heavy as I would have expected. Daylight should be here in about an hour

They're supposed to resume emergency services sometime soon after the sun comes up. We're just seeing the outer cloud bands up in Dallas. Hang in there man.
