Default Opinions on Bordeaux interior

I'm looking at a 928 with the bordeaux interior. At one time, I probably would have jumped at it, but now, I'm not so sure. I'm sure that it hurts resale to at least some extent; however, will it make a car more collectable in the long run, especially if I maintain the car well.

could this interior color also be called BURGUNDY......some people like this others dont, I am not a fan of the wine color whatever its called.
The real question is why are you buying this car? To re sell it?
Or to drive it like you owned it.. If your looking for a personal car then i would buy the car that you like and has had as much maint issues corrected as possible.
To swap out an interior is a lot of work as there are hundreds of small pieces that must be refitted and dont forget that the headliner and sunroof must be removed for headliner removal. As well as the rear seats and rear quarters

Personally I think the bordeaux interior looks incredible on a black car, but less so on other colors. Buy what you like, resale on these cars isn't high enough to worry about it. Guaranteed you will not make money on it and you will be doing well to sell it down the road for what you paid for it.

Eugim: Might want to check the paint code and get it correct. I think Bordeaux hurts resale, Burgundy does not.

The vintage, provenance and producer of the Bordeaux are key to resale value. If it is Burgundy, vineyards are another key aspect.

Your questions seem to center arround resale and collectibility. If that's your emphasis your looking at the wrong automobile.

My main concern would be the condition. Bordeaux or burgundy colors have a tendency to fade more under the sun that other colors. It's the same with cars that are painted in red and burgundy shades. Apparently, the pigments cannot deal with UV rays as well as others.

But if you keep the car out of the sun, and like the color, there is no reason to skip it. You may even get a better deal on the car now, because the color is not the most popular.

I was told that it was bordeaux red, wasn't aware there was a difference from burgandy.

I realize that my questions seem to always consider resale and collectability. These are not too high on my priority list. I've already made the decision about purchasing the car at some point. It's not my intention to sell it. Before I justify spending the money for what is, to me, a "frivolous purchase" given the economy, my kids' ages, and the long term financial effect (30k put into a down market over 20 years), not to mention explaining the purchase to my wife, I'd like to know that there is VALUE in the car. In the consideration is, most importantly, the enjoyment I'd get from driving it. I don't think there's a question about that.

My ego also craves the desirability of the car - doesn't everyone want something that anyone would drool over? Without question, there would be a probably majority of 928philes who might be put off by the bordeaux look - seems very dated to some. However, along those lines, I've heard the argument that the bordeaux dates the car to the correct time, making it more collectable (along with the scarcity of the interiors produced). I

Do I like it? I did in 1990 when I told my father to order his 300E in silver/burgandy. In present day, it wouldn't be my first choice. What made me think of this was a thread I saw where someone bought a 79 928 with white/black tiger striped cloth seats. While he hated them, others told him that he had one of only a couple of cars with that interior, that the seats were worth some money.

Anyway, haven't seen the pics of the bordeaux interior yet. Will make my decision then.

Thanks.
