I'd take the wheels off your hands... Those are stock wheels. They are the widest wheels ever fitted by the factory to a 928. They are the club sport wheels (though I think there were some 944 Turbo's that got that same style wheel in a narrower size...928's does NOT need that! I needs wider) and if they are the real GT/CS wheel they will be 8" front and 9" rear and will be forged and quite light considering they are road wheels. These would need a proper refinish... Someone probably used an acid based cleaning agent on them and stripped every bit of the anodization off of them.

Just from the pictures we see:
1. intake coatings nearly completely peeled off (indicates way more than 52k miles to me)
2. no chin spoiler
3. half-*** painted wheels
4. wrong horn button
5. missing tool panel and tools (bet the spare tire is gone along with the air compressor)
6. missing luggage cover and cargo net
7. mismatching tires (tires on the back look like the wrong size, too small)
8. painted brake calipers (same color as wheels)
9. hot post cover is missing and large wiring connector looks like it is slightly out of place
10. wrong stereo manual pictured (where is the owners manual for the car?)
11. front seats and door panel inserts look redyed
12. missing speaker grills and center caps, rotten as hell looking front license tag bracket
13. severely yellowed washer tank neck indicates a lot of heat from the engine over time which equals more miles are on the car than 52k
14. painted rear license tag bracket and related rear collision history that was not mentioned in the listing
15. the ol' used car salesman description
16. Most importantly: all kinds of mileage issues with Carfax

I tried to paint some wheels once without removing the tires, but at least I took them off the car! Flat silver paint doesn't look right on anything.

Take a look at the picture of the door jamb and sticker. Note the transition from new paint to old?
The car has been painted - probably completely - and things were just masked off. That saved them about $2k in rubber and trim plus lots of labor. The trouble is that in my experience, paint likes to start peeling where it was masked off at the rubber trim.
The interior is amazingly clean, though, and - as James pointed out - the rims look like real ClubSports. They would be worth something, if painted properly.

Neither of those wheels should be on a 1989 S4, they should be the regular flat wheels.
Only the 1989 GT had the forged wheels, the Design 90's were on the 1990 and 1991 928 and 944's.

Greg-
Those aren't D90's, the spokes on D90's aren't flush with the face of the rim, there's a lip. The rear rims especically have the 'flared' spokes that curve outward to meet the rim.
Check out the lip on one of my rear 9" D90 rims below, vs one of my CS rims:
This car either has 'real' 8/9" ET60/60 928 CS rims, or it's wearing some 944 CS rims, or they're the regular 1989 slotted wheels that have been machined.
If they're real they're contributing $1500+ to the value of the car, even if they're painted.

I think the wheels are more likely later Design 90 wheels that are cast rather than the GT/CS forged wheels.

Yup, take it off and turn it 180. Easy.
Dude, enjoy the car, it could be a ball of fun putting her back to the way you want her. Not all of our cars started out perfect when we got them.
Get the mechanicals checked out and have some fun.

Looks like the car was detailed up for maximum resale value, hence the painted wheel. Club sports are anodized and can be easily fogged/oxidized with the wrong wheel cleaner. I had club sports on a 944 Turbo and they were a gritch to keep looking nices once a car wash oxidized them. On another 944 Turbo the previous owner had them painted by a wheel shop and they were a breeze to take care of and looked great. Most just have them polished.

Another note - is the tool panel missing or just loose in the hatch - in several interior pictures its appears to be missing...

Political corectness aside, I think you may be getting yourself into a huge money pit which will leave a bad taste in your mouth about 928's.
If you haven't paid for the car already I would insist on a PPI to verify the car is as advertised.
FYI there are a few cars on here that are available in similar color combos for a few thousand more. I can guarantee that the capital outlay will not be comparable and you will be a great deal happier with your decision.
Good luck either way, I have a feeling you'll need it.
