so I get home this aft from a spirited run to a nearby city...........~270kms and I pop the hood to check alls well and I see a small weep from the drivers side valve cover upper bolt nearest the front. I thought I try a little tweak to synch it down and snap ![Mad](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)

Other than stripping the valve cover off and 'extracting the broken piece and replacing with new what can be done for the remainder of the drivin' season.
TIA

I cannot think of anything, however, that will keep that hole from leaking a little oil.
Don't even think about trying to drill/easy-out the remainder of the bolt with the cover in place though: there is nothing to keep bits of bolt from getting into the valve train.
The good news is that the driver-side cover is the easy one. You can have in and out in a couple of hours or less.

The rest of the season? Clean the hole and put a little bit of that metal duct tape over it. The adhesive's good and might be adequate for underhood use.

Thx Dave & Zeus...............it would be easy to contemplate the drill/easy out fix with the v.cover in situ but the thought of all that metal in the valve train.

It may actually come out easy when the cover is off. Sometimes broken bolts back out without drilling.
Other option for now.http://webstore.petersenresources.co...ypeexpand.aspx

The only way to do a 'wee nip' is to fit an aluminium washer between the bolt head and the rubber grummet on the securing bolt to 'squeeze' the rubber, if it is still soft. The bolt actually bottom out on the flange that can be seen in the picture, so it cannot be nipped up and the Tech Spec calls for 10 Nm torque on the M6 bolt.
Porsche can supply these aluminium washers.
As the main blots are the ones along the centreline of the cover to prevent oil leakage into the spark plug holes the upper top forward bolt hole should be OK for a temporary fix with a rubber grummet.
