ok.... for those wanting a 928 Home Base Hotel to stay at here's what we got. The consensus appears to be preferring oceanfront. I called several popular chains that are centrally located from International Speedway Blvd(92). Some were booked up, some were $$$$, some were beggin for the biz!

I settled on the Comfort Inn, which is a nice looking chain with reasonable rates; available nice oceanfront rooms; & seem happy that we might be a group staying there.

Here's the details:
They currently have 12 available Oceanfront Rooms with 2 queen beds; micro & frig, etc. Standard rate of $109+, with most likely a group discount to $89+, pending my confirmation with the Mgr. They also have non oceanfront rooms too currently, but those were only $5 less than the oceanfront.

I told Peggy Sue(don't ya love that name?) at the front desk that anyone calling would identify themselves as being with the Porsche 928 club, so please use that info to let them know who you're with. It will help ensure we have everyone counted & may factor in on how they group people on which floors. She said they have 4 available oceanfront rooms each on the three floors of 3rd-5th.

Here's their web site: http://comfortinndaytona.com/
Phone: 800-542-1447
Address: 730 N. Atlantic Ave.

I would hope since people are expressing staying as a group, that any needing a room would start with this Comfort Inn to ensure as many as possible are together. There are any and many other hotels, small or large in this immediate area should you wait too late or desire somewhere else. If for any reason someone is late in their efforts and this hotel is booked up; feeling anti-social; or wants to find somewhere else or closer to the track, etc.; here is the link to the Daytona Beach Visitor's web site with an interactive map to locate a hotel. http://www.daytonabeach.com/interactive_map

Please let me know everyone's intentions?

Ok, Everything is finalized with the oceanfront Comfort Inn regarding our group rate, etc.

Here's the deal:

They are currently holding all 12 available oceanfront rooms for The Florida Porsche 928 Club until Oct.1st. The manger will check daily & add rooms if available if we use these up before Oct. 1st. She discounted the rate 25% to $95.99. They also currently have non oceanfront rooms available, which they will discount to $85.99 for our group. No non oceanfront rooms are being held for us, but when you call just ask & if they have them, you can get one. After Oct. 1st, no more rooms will be held for us, so it is then a first come, first serve, and no discounted price. So get yer butts in gear & get your room booked if you want to be with the masses!

Here again is the Comfort Inn web site:

Does this hotel have a parking garage and a place to wash the cars?

Usually there are parade laps where you pay $10 and get a few laps. Just stay off the high banks until the last day. Otherwise it may be a short weekend for you.

Hmmm. Parade laps sounds interesting. If nothing else the go carts are close by. I was looking on the map and Daytona is actually closer to me than kissimmee was. Weird.

I'm not aware of any parade laps at this PCA race as they do at Sebring each year. They didn't have them at the 1st two OktoberFast races & 2006 was the 1st year of this race. They did have parade laps for minimal charge last year at the Rennsport Reunion event at Daytona, which was two weeks after the PCA races. That did only allow you to drive the road course & they did kick you out if you went up on the banked turns. So I'd think you should plan on the go-kart races & the trip to & from to get your driving jollies in.

A little off subject but remember to get your rooms early if you are staying overnight for the Sebring event. There is alot less hotel/motels in Sebring compared to Daytona. A lot of the motels were already booked for that weekend when we called last week.
