Ah. Okay.
I just looked, however, at the valve sizes. The Blue open chamber heads have 2.06 or so from my calipers, and the orange heads seem to be like 2.25.
The exhaust valves also look bigger.

I was shooting for about 10.5 or so for the compression. If I can figure out what the hell the fuel tank is made from (steel or plastic) I may run ethanol in the truck, and will then go higher, like 11 or 12. Or I may leave it 10.5 but try and find some turbo headers (!)

Anyone have a comment on why the closed chamber heads have a 2.25 intake valve?

not that my opinion has steered you away from doing this swap....but---
have you thought about the smog inspection issues with what you're doing...?
Tahoe's did not come with big blocks in them of any flavor, so I'm curious as to how you'll pass this off to the smog cops......?
You know the score about blowers and such, remove and re-install after inspections, so I my thinking is, it's going to be an interesting scenario when the cops say, "Hey, this don't belong in here...."

Good point. Its not registered in CA. Nor would it even pass any inspection now. So thats no issue.

It looks like a previous owner put the big valves in an oval port head. The same thing recommended for the open chamber heads. If the guides and valves are good use them and look for some dished pistons. If you don't want to go that route and the valves are good, use them in the blue heads. You just saved a couple hundred dollars.

Cams are 100 bucks or less. Wow. And I only need one!
I will be towing, but I don't want an anemic motor over 3500. So I was thinking of one that has about 1500-6000 for a power range listed?

No. I was thinking I would be okay for up to 6k even with a cast crank if I were to try and save some money.
It is indeed a truck, so it may not need the 6k redline. But it sure would be cool.
Robust steel rods, forged pistons, and some roller rockers and roller tappets - seems like it would be okay.

New info - the Orange heads with the big valves have WAY bigger intake ports. As in two fingers fit through but on the blue heads they don't.

Like 1.8 or so compared with the smaller port heads being 1.4
