Now's the time to decide on the image you want in that school. Are you gonna be the cool guy with the Porsche who cruizes around town and never get's tickets and can afford his insurance? Who always comes off as the mature guy the chicks are drawn to?
...But also consider this guy's advice

Too many lawyers now a-days, I dont encourage this. In fact just let him keep talking his ****. You have a Porsche and he has a FORD. You will get more pu$$y with you p car in a week than he will see in a year and thats really what its all about.

If I were you, I would ask his girlfriend out...

Seriously, he is just trying to make a name for himself. Happens everyday. The problem is that your car is "famous" around school...he hears people (especially the ladies) talking about it, and he thinks that by beating you, he will be putting you and your car in its place.

Let him run his mouth. You have NOTHING to prove, and a lot more to lose if you get caught racing him. If your parents are anything like mine are, they don't mind giving you a cool car, but if you get caught racing it, then you will be riding a really cool BIKE.

Don't give him what he wants. Trust me, its killing him that you won't race.

You know the funny part when I was in high school there was a guy with 2001 GT mustang convertible silver. One day I just got fedup with him just revving his engine and burning out every time he saw me.....so I decided to race him he was beaiting me in acceleration ,I took him out. However when he braked his car spun and hit a wall he was in ICU for three days....nearly couldn't graduate cause he missed all finals the moral of this story is that consequences are heavy. PS where are you located I'll race him for you!

For the life of me, I cannot understand why people insist in drag racing these cars. Just leave it alone; it's a GT car, not a super stock. If anything is said, just challenge him to a flying mile at Bonneville; email him the youtube clip of the holbert car doing the record run. He won't know the difference between your car and Mark's. They all look pretty much the same to the uneducated eye. Sure, some people like burning up their tires on purpose, but it's a lot more fun wearing down the sides of the tread one turn at a time at oh, say, 90 mph (and, much easier on the wallet). And, I'll betcha he (mustang boy) enjoys hitting the throttle coming out of a cloverleaf just as much as we do. The inspiration for buying my 928 was, after all, my first car: a '66 Mustang GT. 2734 pounds (weighed on a truck scale, as if it mattered, couldn't do much about the weight) of flexible semi frame, a 289 cu. in. V8 (interesting collection of numbers, just in the wrong order, no?) four barrel, bias ply 70 series tires, and a four speed with a useless 1st gear. Listed 225 h.p., redline to 6000 rpm. sound familiar? Car topped out at 125 on the speedo, with something like a 3.0 9" rear axle. We all love our cars; he loves his, you love yours. Take a spin with each other in your respective rides; I think both of you will understand 'the big picture' just a bit more.

From the first time two neanderthals were walking side by side toward the water hole and one pulled out front...the other picked up the pace...then the race was on!!!
Ever since then man has been racing anything he can move!! It's a part of evolution or a gift from god either/or.....

Its my experiance... to take out a life ins policy on this kid. Hes not long for this world.... Reminds me of 2 kids I knew growing up... Neither are with us anymore. One car accident the other motocycle.

Your car says PORSCHE on the back, you have nothing to prove.

1. RI is way to small north/south, east/west for racing on public roads.
Police car density ....
2. Most owners of the 79 - 82 models have choices to make on the subject of racing current technology cars. Some questions you might ask yourself.
Is it worth the expense?
Is it worth the bother?
Is there a real need or reason to invest in that low end -preferably across the band- performance?
What will I get out of it?
If you want a resonable jump in performance look for an 86.5 on up. You can probably sell your OB add about 5-8 K and still spend less $$$ and time than turning the OB into a dragster.
Personally, I'd invest in some of Paul Champagne's interior work and/or some good paint.
You are driving a unique, fairly low production number, fairly hi-performance, great handling and good looking car.
As per Shark Attack's recommendation the OB is a babe magnet.
FWIW
For about 2 years I (OH the Shame) used to cruise the Loop sytem at sunset here in Midland, TX.
I would put on my best facial geezer look - blank look, mouth hanging open, head drooping- travel at 55-70 mph in second gear -82' auto, Weissach- at 65/70 I would be nearing the sweet spot rpm wise.
Since there is no shortage of money, Mustang's, Camaro's and hot rod pick-ups being driven by Yah-Hoo
teenagers here the pickin's were good. They'd roar up behind me give me the eyeball then pull ahead, slow down to come alongside. When the driver looked across at me I was gone!
He invariably slowed down with out downshifting (standard), or was in Drive losing rpm (auto) both situations did little good for a kickdown race against someone in a fairly light sportscar running in the rpm sweetspot who has just LEFT. I'd get off at the next exit :<)
Unfortuneately, a lot of teens got mad behind the wheel ...
Things got ugly and dangerous out there. I suppose it was that, "I'll get him next time" attitude.
I gave up the sport after they started laying for me before the on ramps.
Imagine a crazed teen running alongside you, knocking down 10/20 metal delineators as you are on the single lane ramp... totally goofy...and I was part of it. Shortly after, the hot rod trucks tried following me home (CB's)
Street racing was no longer fun, became hostile, then dangerous.
Screw the street racing and drag's, RI. Even if you win ....you lose everyone will be gunning for you.
Its' fun but believe me it's totally stupid.

Sounds like trashy advice to me.

Just complement him on his car, that it looks and sounds cool and that he could probably walk away from your Porsche in a drag race because your Porsche was designed to go fast on the highway from city to city not drag race.

He could race him for fuel mileage.

But really, this kid should just forget about this guy. Seems like a waste of time. I could see if it was something cooler... like maybe another 928.

By the way, RKD in OKC, you have a beautiful car.
