Wish I could make it. I am down in New Orleans...I evacuated with my fiancee' & mother down to Florida. After the storm, I went with my mother to her home in Alexandria (when I knew the storm was coming this way, I took her with us to FL)and she was hit worse than we were, but aside from a few missing shingles and one of her trees down in the bayou behind her house, she was lucky...My 930 & her Boxster survived in her garage. In New Orleans, all of my stuff survived (thankfully), the Corvette, Mustang, car trailer & 928 S4 all survived intact, although the S4 now sits angrily on a flat tire. Go figure...

Back on topic... Maybe you should take him for a ride in your car when he takes your daughter for a ride in his...

Actually, the correct answer is it was copied from Hans Ledwinka of Tatra. So a 911 really has Czech roots

I consider myself a complimentary type of person. I have found not everyone is, and have learned to not expect it from people.
I throw it out there with no need or expectation of reciprocation. And I find myself satistied because I can appreciate others without the need to be appreciated.
This has really saved me from getting peeved like I used to.

I want to reiterate, he is a very nice guy with an amazing array of cars you just don't see very often, and he offered to give me a hand whenever I needed it. But the one comment just got under my skin a bit. No worries, it's all good.

I think we need to look at this from the perspective of the rest of the car enthusiasts view. We are a very very small passionate group of enthusiasts that cherish an automobile that the rest of the world abhors.

They really secretly like the car, they just can't admit it out loud.

Well considering we're talking about the Beetle, and NOT the 911 your answer is incorrect. The original Type 12 was all Porsche. After that, the "Peoples Car" used Tatra design ques, it wasn't just "copied". Porsche's head designer, Erwin Komenda, actually was the one that penned the design everyone recognizes today.

I would say Porsche having to pay 3 million deutsch marks (in 1961 money btw) due to the lawsuit would justify the term "copied".

Also, since the beetle is the 911's ancestor, I'm not quite sure what you mean.
