Not sure if OB's are the same, but on my '87 S4 there is a tool in the tool set that is used to move the seats. There is a small hole in the electric motor cover that the tool goes into. Then you just turn the tool either direction to move the seat backwards and forwards. It may be easier if you remove the plastic cover from the seat motors so you can see where to insert the tool.

I don't believe the older seats have a manual "override" from my searchings on this before. I have an 82 with a bad motor in my drivers seat (the one that adjusts the back, aargh).

As far as forward and back I have read use a 6mm alan(hex) in the motor of the seat to move forward and back

But the tilt I don't think there is a way. There is always the potential that I could be wrong, if I am that would make me very happy.... anyone?

I do like vw's. But I am actually in the process of selling the 2 I have to concentrate on the 928 for now.

Good luck with your project.
