I trust Fabio(Shawn) and if he tells me this kid is legit, I'm in. Ross, I will continue to help you along on this trip but I need you to do two things for me. I need you to tell me where you are and give me a detailed plan on how you are going to get the bike out of impound and how you're getting home.

Update.

Ross has his bike out of impound and escaped Kansas. I just spent a couple of hours hanging out with him in Columbia, MO. Got him some food and gas and he is on his way. He is going to try to get as far as he can in the next 24 hours and hopes to be home tomorrow. I am not sure how realistic that is, but I wish him the best of luck.

If he can avoid our friends in blue and plans some rest stops to catch an hour or two of shut eye along the way he just might make it. He will take I-70 across the rest of Missouri and then catch I-64 through Illinois. He will then hook up with I-75 the rest of the way to Florida. If there are any Rennlisters on the way chime in.

He will need to make sure every penny he has goes to gas or food at this point. No more luxuries. Nice kid, he reminds me of a good friend of mine in college. A little (ok, more than a little) reckless, and long term planning is not his forte, but he seems like a good guy.

He did mention that he was using a Paypal Debit card so he can get the money people are contributing.

I've done stranger things in my time, so I wish him the best of luck in making it home safely.

So, still no insurance, right?

How much does it cost to insure a bike like this for a week, or a month?

okay guys get this, i was at a rest stop outside columbia taking a break and cotemplating my situation when I go to the bathroom I get to talking to this old guy who is towing his road king too st. louis so he put my bike in the trailer and gave me a ride to a truckstop outside I-64 and gave me $40. Looks like I can get to around atlanta. I am at a flying J truckstop using a computer here. I am getting ready to ride off, a couple listers have my numbe and I'm sending updates via text. This may be a stupid trip, but its the most fun I've had in years and Ill never forget or regret this, no matter what happens along the way.

At his age with a bike like this it could be more then the rest of the trip to pay for one month of insurance.

When I was his age I was paying $260 per month for my 944S. This was with a spotless record on a fleet policy.

I guess I missed something. When I checked my phone this AM Ross had texted me that his bike was dead. That would explain the trailer to St Louis. Not sure of the rest of the story.

Ross. Are you running again?

Hey Ross, 100 miles north of Atlanta you have a free place to stay, all you can eat and a full tank. Bus (michael) offered pulloff tires in a previous post.

He texted me this morning as well, although there was no mention of a dead bike.

Hmm? ill have to check my messages to see what I sent you but the bike is running great, I am on my way into nashville, I'm at another truck stop computer this is working alright. I'm not sure exactly where I'm going to run out of fuel but I'll let kie know where I might end up.

So I figured out that I can sleep on the bike, worked pretty good, slept for 2 hours last night at a truck stop on it. lol
