Sorry, I don't ever want a car I'm afraid to drive because it will add milage. Even assuming he gets 165K large for it he's probably losing money when you add up the original sticker prices for all three, plus storage expenses and insurance. Seems really dumb to me. And the worst part is he never got to enjoy what great cars all three were in their day and still are today.
If you want a car for a collection then restore a high milage one where your actually saving a car from the scrap yard.

Well Jim, to each his own...When you only have one Porsche it is hard to conceive of someone buying one for its collectibility but when you have 20 or so...well, that is a different story altogether. That said, Bob didn't buy the car from new. He has owned it for a few years now though. Not sure when the other two cars hit his collection. Frankly I like all three of them! Really neat cars! I have no idea if that is a good deal or not, but it sure is a lot of money regardless!
Bob can afford to have as many cars as he wants regardless of if he wants to drive them or not. He has one of the best collections of Porsches in the country (though I don't think he has gone into the race cars) and is also one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. At '07 Parade he spent his own money to ship 12 of his most highly collectible cars to the show! No small expense that, and he did it just so he could share his toys with other Porsche lovers! I always enjoyed the thought of my friend Bob owning a 928 since he has always been a 911 and 356 guy in the past, but I guess his days as a 928 guy are numbered now.

Your correct James, "To each his own." But I still feel that way. You have a very nice collection as does Roger, but you both also enjoy them and drive them. A car with 300+ miles is just a waste IMHO. Especially such a great car like a 928GT!
