Photoshop... there is no way that engine fits in there so easily... or looks so small

Its one of the artz rabbits, the ones that they widened and basically (well, not basically, pretty complicated-ly) threw on top of a 928. There are other posts about them on the forums, and some youtube vids showing them as well.

I agree. There just aint no way. The proportions are all wrong. I might believe it if the areas over the wheels (the fender wells) weren't so wide. It's a damn good photoshop job, i'll give you that. I'm sure it could, and has been done, but this ain't it. I don't buy it

It a modifed golf body on a 928, it takes 3 whole seconds to verify.

Just check your facts before blowing something off as fake....
The fender area is so wide because it is just a golf body built onto a 928, not a 928 engine stuffed in a golf.

That was a REAL car! They added several inches to the middle of the WHOLE car to do that conversion! Pretty freaking awesome actually.

Actually, it was a bit more complicated than that. The people at Nordstadt took complete 928s, stripped them of most of their body shells, and (supposedly) fabricated each panel from scratch - except the doors.
Did anybody notice that the rear axle seems to be further forward than at the rabbits of the time? Less space between door and rear wheel, and more behind the wheel... That was one dimension that they had little influence on.
But - James might mix that up - the guys at Porsche had created an Audi Coupe test mule during the early development stages that was basically a body shell cut in half and widened by about 12 cm. I don't know, if they widened existing panels, or created new ones, but it would seem like a big waste redoing it all for a test mule.
Then again, you never know what these perfectionist Swabians came up with...

There are gazillions of Vanagons with Porsche engines out there. The first, however, was initiated by Dr. Bott, and used as a chase car for the test mules. The regular VW Buses they had been using could not keep up.

LOL! It even has the dial rims of the 928.
BTW, I checked the first picture in detail in Photoshop. It's an original picture and hasn't been retouched. The camera (or scanner) arterfact are uniform and haven't been disturbed.
