Reduced to $550
Pics in second post

Heads only (no cams) == plus shipping (local pickup is fine too)

They came out of a running engine 4 months ago....great condition.

Just for clarification...wasn't it the pistons that created the 10.4:1 CR, and not the heads?

Cool.

I am struggling to find out if there are OE parts I can use to boost the CR in my '79 US.

I know I can't get it all from shaving the heads, because every bit you shave off the head means a little bit of cam timing retard. You'd have to get adjustable cam gears to get the timing back.

Were there any "higher compression" pistons available in 4.5:, or is it possible to puncht he 4.5L out to 4.7L so I can utilize the ROW 4.7LS piston?

Not sure of that information specifically. But the higher compression pistons were available in 4.7's. We really don't know anything about 4.5...but we do know it it would probably be cheaper to simply buy a good 4.7 engine, when you add the cost of machining a 4.5 plus the cost of bigger pistons.


Or just supercharge it. That would probably cost you about the same as the machining and pistons (or less, maybe) and would definitely be a LOT more fun!

(And of course I hope you understand that I'm not speaking in the royal "we," but rather the Kevin and me "we". )
