Maybe he doesn't have to be labeled as a lifetime membership, but why not contribute to rennwish and give him a title something like "20 year membership for rennwish"

Lifetime membership for Bill, there would be many, and I do mean many, parked Sharks without him!

Well, while we're at it, absolutely need to add TONY to the list of "hall of famers"
Naw, adding money to the equation sorta taints the whole thing.
It's not about money - never has been, never will be.
I agree that Bill and Dr. Bob have both shown that they have what it takes, through their years of dedicated contributions to the Rennlist 928 community.

I am indebted (sp?) to both...Bill for taking the time to tension my new timing belt at Sharktoberfest two years ago and for Dr. Bob for offering his help to me on a few occasions. I am in 10 each if it comes to that. Hell, I'll pay a years membership for both of them, How do I do that Randy??

How about we establish our own "Renn Shark Hall of Fame" instead? The lifetime membership status has more of an OT flavor to it, and as others have said, Bill (and Dr Bob, and many other wizards here) don't really hang there. We could have our own thing here! Thoughts?
I'd nominate in the first class Bill Ball, Dr. Bob, Bigs, Jim Bailey, Alan the Electric Guru, and Wally P.
(thanks Darien for the thought trigger!)

Is there any room for comments from potential victims here?
My understanding of the 'lifetime membership' status is that it's for service beyond the direct arena of the cars. More like for folks that go the extra million miles outside of the 928 and Porsche circle. After all, we are here to support other owners, and in turn receive in-kind support when we need it. Non of that is beyond the normal call of duty here. I do it because I can, and it's payback for all the support and enjoyment that I've received over the years from the online community.
All that said, my contributions pale next to those of Bill Ball, Stan Shaw, Dan Bise, Jim and Mark at 928 Int'l, Dave and Jeannie, Alan, Randy, and the list goes on and on. Bill donates countless hours to others, working on their cars and sharing his knowledge freely. Stan donates his time and resources to keeping the OC alive, in spite of my best efforts to bankrupt it. Mark encourages Jim to participate here, and along with Dan hosts our Sharktoberfest event in SoCal every fall. SITM and the supercharger kits. 928 Electrical guru. Moderator Maximus. So many folks who have learned about the cars and are willing to share their experiences so that others may learn. There are dozens who deserve recognition for services rendered to the 928 community.
Karen and I donate time and expertise to several causes, and we've learned a few things over the years. One is that 20% of the people do 80% of the work in almost any group environment. Volunteer organizations or workplace, this seems to be a pretty reliable formula. To stand out, you need to do a lot better than that 20%. I know I'm not even close.

^^ So modest!!
So someone who contributes basically nothing but banter deserves more reward than those that are here helping others with issues pertaining to keeping their cars on the road? Sounds odd to me. I agree others deserve recognition but a few of those names rarely post here. You and Bill & Alan frequent the area enough to really give frequent and consistent advice.

Well, I'm embarrassed and flattered. The fact is, this is (mostly) just a fun car owned by a lot of fun people. When I'm working on a car with someone, it's (mostly) just a fun time. Anyway, thanks for the recognition, but as has been appropriately pointed out, all of us would be rather lost without more encyclopedic resources like Wally P, Jim B, Dr. Bob, Louis and the support of dozens of other people like Alan, Steve Cattaneo, John Speake, Theo Jenniskens, Garth S, Tim Murphy, John Pirtle, Tony Harkin, Brian Orland, and the development and support of our 928 specialty vendors. When I came here 8 years ago, I didn't know where the lug wrench was supposed to go.
