Hi Steve,
Beautiful car, and in great shape. I have the same year, only in black/black. Looking forward to meeting you and your new car in person one of these days.

They are VERY ADDICTIVE! Trust me on this one! The only treatment is to buy more of them too! I am working on my treatment regimen! LOL!
+1 on the A/C problem...not an A/C problem at all. It is the heater valve under the plastic cover at the base of the windshield when you open the hood... That is open and not closing... It is diluting and over powering the cool air that your A/C is producing. Where you live you will probably want to actually FIX it. Here in Texas we just close the valve and leave it closed. We don't need heaters down here...just A/C!
Welcome to the club! Great folks here and TONS of info!

Beautiful car.
I love the no rub strips. Now, just put on some aero mirrors to complete that smooth rounded look.
Oh, and theres nothing wrong with the transmission. It just needs to be driven right. (ie D only needs to be used over 100mph)

I had the exact same problem on my '87 S4 and just last week I replace the in tank sender and now it reads very accurately especially after I removed the shipping retainer!

It won't be a leak - they don't work that way.. once the refrigerant leaks - no more cold air.
Sounds like you have a failed hot water valve - either the vacuum control for it or the valve itself - in this case when the engine warms up the heater box temp counteracts the cooling from the evaporator... probably an easy fix...
Do the airflow flap positions work (footwell/defog vents) if no its probably a HVAC system vacuum issue - if this looks ok ->
The hot water valve is under the air filter box - pretty easy to access - determine if the actuator moves with vacuum - and also see if you have vacuum switching on the line that feeds it (when running). Or you can simply try tying it closed (the non-default position) wit a ziptie and see if that fixes your warm air issue...

Congrats on your new purchase, '87 is the best year! I hate rub strips, these cars look so much better without them IMO. What are the last 4 digits of your vin? If it is a early model 87 like mine you may have oil squirters. Do you have a flip wing?

Nice catch!
Fuel pump whine (not sure if it’s pump, filter or both)
- Never heard filter whine. Just to make sure it's the fuel pump, you can temporarily pull the fuel pump relay and jump pins 30 to 87 on the CE panel plug so the fuel pump will run when the car is stopped.
Driver mirror goes up/down but not left/right
- Mine did the same thing and proved to be a broken wire in the harness where it flexes behind the door panel even though it was inside a harness sheath.
Rear tire clearance on left is ½ inch, right is 1 inch (no tire impact, but this seems tight)
- Could be just the body panels. My car is off in the same way 5mm left to right but the thrust alignment is perfect.
