A Y-pipe, no-cat, with a single 2.5" will give you a large increase in torque, and a good increase in horsepower. HP is limited by the size of the intake.
If you do get a Y-pipe, grind out the cast iron manifold outlets to the size of the 32V gaskets (55mm). Doing this, plus the Y-pipe, single 2.5", and ~6° ignition advance gave me 214 hp/277 tq rw sae on my old '81!
Forget the 4-speed. With 277 rw torque, you don't need gears!
