You folks are very knowledgeable about the used car market in general, and the 928 market in particular.
Over the last year and a half, I've put my car up for sale twice. Once on eBay and twice here. Haven't garnered much interest.
That's OK. I'm not really desperate to sell the car. But I am curious.
So I'm posing an honest question (those of you who frequent OT know my feelings about honest questions!), and I will not argue or dispute your comments. I just truly want to know - given today's market - whether or not it even makes sense to list the car.
I paid ~ $28.5K for it and have put at least that much into really bringing it back to excellent condition. I know I'm upside down in the car. That doesn't bother me.
So...
What would you pay for such a car - presuming you had the money and wanted one? And don't worry, I'm not going to pester anyone with PM's fishing for a buyer.
Here's a link to the thread describing the car - with all its positives and negatives.
Have at it.

If the consensus is that my car is worth, say, mid twenties, then I probably wouldn't even make the effort to list it. It's worth more in fun and satisfaction to me than that.

I've been wondering this about my 928 lately too.......
However its safe to say yours is worth alot more than sharky due to its being a GTS and having less mileage....
Like you I'm also hopelessly upside down in sharky too.....however I think once your GTS crosses the sub $30k threshold you will see quite a bit more interest..... I have no doubts you could sell it VERY quickly for $25k or so.....
Of course you wouldn't sell your 928 for $25k......& I would throw the keys & title at anyone that offered me that much!!!

Only thing that sticks in my mind was a comment by you that the paint looked good at 10 feet. For a car to sell at top dollar the whole car has to be good. It will just take time to find the right buyer..especially being red. :-0

So... give me a dollar amount that seems reasonable. Don't be shy.

Would you be replacing it with a similar car? Or would you just be getting away from having a "fun" car at all?
I ask because, not only are you upside down on this car, but you will probably have to dig a little bit of a hole as soon as you get a replacement (if you are planning on one) to get it set up "just so" over and above the purchase price. You already have done all those "little things" to this car, so keep that in mind.
I vote you keep it, I sure as heck wouldn't let go of one once I got my hands on it.

Hi Bigs,
I'm playing around with the idea of getting a 3rd 928 so I'll take you up on your offer to comment since I've been lookin'
For someone like me, your color combo is great, just the color I'm looking for...so that's a big plus. The work you've done on it is also a big plus. Mileage is not a big cost driver as long as the body, paint, and interior have been well taken care of and show like a low mileage car. I'm not concerned about mileage on the mechanicals. Big detractors for me are the accident report and the paint and the auto transmission (since I'm looking for a 5-speed). So for me, the car would be tempting at $29K as is. If it were a 5-speed, $34K would be tempting for me.
Good luck with the research and sale!

OK. We got one vote for $29K. Or perhaps actually two. This number is in agreement with Iceman's earlier comment.

Bigs,
Here is another opinion from over at Pelican Parts forum...
YMMV.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthread.php?t=423141
I tend to agree that GTS's under $30k are a good buy... That said we have had a REALLY NICE S/Ced GTS that no one was jumping on at $33k, and what seems to be a nice gray '93 GTS listed at $25k that is still sitting... Maybe it is a market or overall economy thing. I don't know...in Europe a GTS with under 80k miles is a lower mile car even! Go figure. I guess everyone around here still holds out hope of finding the GTS diamond in the rough w/ 30k miles and a price of $30k...

Bigs, if yours is in the condition I believe it to be, you would be robbing yourself if you let it go for $30,000. You would get robbed if you let it go for that.

Bigs, I paid $24 3 years ago for mine with 38K miles. I probably should have got it for 20K.
No problems or fixes since I got it. I would say $25-28 for yours.
Cheers, Mac

I'll jump in here and say this.
The car will be worth less unless you're willing to put the effort in to market it. If you try to sell it half heartedly you'll get less than what the car is worth. Don't sell yourself or the car short and put some effort into it. Spend a part of the day putting together an add. Use the same add and put it on Craigslist, Cars.com and ebay. Also put it on PCA and Chucks website. For the most part ebay will be your best bet if you advertise it correctly.
If maintenance is 100% up to date you should be able to get about $30K for it at minimum.
