Where can I purchase these cone filters with the heat shield?

I was asking about the budget setup that MONGO was mentioning, not the expensive BMC filters...

This may sound just ghetto, but the company that makes them is called "BlingLights"

They are on ebay. They sell for $99 each "Buy it Now." (Not endorsing these guys in anyway).

Below is the link to their ebay store.

The filters say they fit certain cars. In reality, it's just a universal system with a 3" rubber duct hose.

Buying 2 of these with the C5 Corvette intake on ebay also will help you get the necessary parts. Everything else such as 90 degree bends can be purchased from Autozone.

Ehhhh... The more I look at the thing, the cheaper it looks.

I think the BMC is still the better mouse trap. But, still, no one will know unless they do trial and error.

It's their re-usable carbon fibern non-woven filter that I'm not so sure about.
Maybe a K&N cone or some other paper filter can be made to fit in their carbon fiber can.

I hate carbon fiber. Not on my 928; no thank you. That thing is getting painted wrinkle black.

I have some carbon fiber patterned shelf paper if you need some to add bling to your car.

my blackbird works fine... just got the new upgraded filters from DR a few weeks ago and they fit much better too... pics on my sharksite. I think he's getting the production sorted out again and they should be avail soon.

fwiw, imo w/out sharktuning and doing something that would put more flow through the motor it might be a waste of time. I had to retune my stroker w/the blackbird, but it put out about 32rwhp more cause the stock airbox was choking the 6.5L motor w/it's bigger valves, cams and exhaust stuff.

on a stock motor, the gains would be a lot less. and if it's not retuned, you might even get a net loss or worse (engine damage) if it gets too lean too often. iirc, the OEM computer can only compensate about 8% from the maps, so unless the maps are changed to let in more fuel (longer pulse duration, bigger injectors, etc), then you'll just screw up the factory tuning if you only change the amt of air.

even w/my 402rwhp I didn't need the super MAF, so that won't cure much w/out addressing the AF tuning as all the super maf does is extend the tuning range, not the maps. and if you don't push a LOT more air through, there's no reason to use the super maf as it'll never get into the extended range it has. (was done for blown cars mostly)

Here's another filter that can be used as an alternative to a BMC:

Who's gonna pony up $99 to prove that their filter housing is a 46oz V8 juice can with some of Ernest's shelf paper wrapped around it?

In other words, can you really make a true CF piece of that size with the clamps, etc for $99? I'm guessing no.....

Which is why I put one of those "second thoughts" posts on there.

An S4 MAF is 3.87", or 96 mm in diameter where it sits in the airbox.
