Default Drivers Ed at Carolina Motorsports Park

Hurricane Region, PCA, will be hosting a DE at CMP (Kershaw, SC) on August 30 and 31. Details may be found at: http://www.trackschedule.com/HurricaneDE.html
This is a great way to drive your car legally "at speed" and learn more about how it handles. If you are in the area, please consider joining us.

Great place. Got to ride as a passenger in Panoz car here. Nice technical track.

Can you say a bit about what is required for DE participation (car, driver, membership) or post a link?

I wonder how can I test my car for the 105 decibel limit? What method do they use to monitor the sound, is it from a particular distance?
Right now it's running with stock manifold into X pipe into small resonators into RMB.

You need a Snell 2000 or 2005 helmet. PCA membership is not required, nor is a Porsche, for that matter. The link in my original post has the registration forms and will have all pertinant information in the near future (we had to change dates and venues last week - long story - suffice it to say we are scrambling to update everything to the new location and dates). A form will be posted detailing what to have done for a pre-event inspection by your local mechanic or yourself, if you are qualified. Our DE chair, Coco Strayer, runs a very safe and enjoyable event, and the weekend will include classroom instruction and plenty of track time. Hope to see you there.

I don't know how they test, but unofficially, I don't think you should have a problem.

You shouldn't have a sound problem. Extremely loud race cars run there quite often. I run stock manifold, X, normal resonators and RMB and I am far from the noisiest one out there.

I haven't seen CMP ever black flag anyone for sound. Just don't drive during the quiet lunch hour and you should be fine.

I haven't attended a Hurricane region event yet.

I'll check my calendar to see if it is doable.

Sounds like fun guys.

Anyone else going. I don't typically wash my car before DE events... 928ers need and deserve better representation that what I provide!

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

We have a fairly good representation of 928s in our Region, so hopefully, you won't be alone.
