Default swap 87 seats into an 80?

Newbie here...Does anyone know if it is possible to use the newer 87 seats in an 80 US spec? I searched but couldn't find a definite answer.

I just got finished - 10 minutes ago - putting S4 seats into an 82. It's a direct bolt in, just use your older bolts, the S4 uses a larger size.

Good luck,
Rod

The S4 seats have a three post plug and the 82 have only two, but only the red and brown wires do anything on the S4 haraness that I could determine. Using just these two, the seats function perfectly. You can get a two plug trailer harness for $1.98 at Advance Auto for each side and with some butt splicers, you're good to go.

Thanks Rod! Now I just have to figure out how to get the current seats out since the electronics are dead and I can't seem to expose the rear bolts!

Unfortunately, I'm not sure I can help you there. There is a lever, 3/8in in diameter - 6in. long or so on the left side of the seat (under it of course) that if pushed to the "outside" of the seat disengages the gears. I assume - if the seat was in the car - if you disengage the gears that you might be able to force the seat forward and up to get to the rear screws. I can't get it to do anything with the seat out, but of course I have nothing to leverage against.

That's about all the help I can be. Let me know how you come out.

Good luck

There should be a recessed allen head bolt in the lower front of the seat (in the plastic cover) that is used to manually move the seat fore and aft.

Hope this helps,
Adam
