Hi Chris,
In real life, I'm a manager. I manage a modest size group of about 50 people but have to work with about 100 others. So about 90% of my work life is spent in meetings - either someone else's meeting or my own meeting - in addition to being on the road a lot!
Before I got into management, I was a computer scientist and wrote software - haven't done that in years! I love to fix mechanical things and figure out how they work.
Working on these cars is GREAT, NO MEETINGS - just me, the 928, my tools, favorite music and, of course, pizza and diet coke!

Dwayne,
I have the 45mm one. I forget where I bought it, but found later that 928 Specialists has about the best price on it (about $39). I love mine. I have had to use it a few times. Once for brakes and a couple times to bleed the clutch during a TB job. It's very easy to use and does a great job.

What do you say, is it a deal?

Hey Matt,
THANKS! I'd much rather give the $$ to one of our vendors than buy it off Amazon - the price is GREAT TOO! I'll check out 928 Specialists site and see if I can find it. THANKS again!

Just commenting on a few things I noticed.
Brake noise is generated at the point where the pad makes contact with the caliper piston. It is from the two surfaces vibrating as they make contact. Putting grease on those retainer springs will neither produce noise or eliminate it. It will only serve as a magnet to attract more dirt so skip it next time.

As far as the disc brake quiet, I personally use about 5 times as much just because I do not want to have to redo a job because I was stingy with the material. But that boils down to personal preferences. But you don't have to worry if any of it gets on the surface of the pad. It will burn off instantly the first time you touch the brake pedal.

Dwayne, don't you wish you'd reset that odometer 100 miles earlier?

PS, you are our hero anyway.

Just a quick note on the Motive Power Bleeder.

It works very well, but be careful not to pump it up to beyond about 10psi as otherwise there's a risk of blowing off the blue hose from the reservoir.

Also, you can get it for less than $40 from 928 Specialists at the moment (www.928gt.com).

Hilton.

Edit: Oops, just saw Matt posted above about the better price

I think I'm gonna buy this one as soon as I measure the diameter of the reservior cap and confirm 45mm. Probably get the ATE blue fluid as well. Great tip....THANKS!

Ah Ha, you noticed! Yes....I knew I was coming up on the historic milestone and was supposed to hit the reset at 111,000 and missed it by only a few miles - must have fell asleep at the wheel! Anyway, best I could do is hit the odo reset at 111,100 and ended up with a darn zero in there! Now I'll have to sell this one and buy another 928 with less than 100K miles and try again! .....or better yet, just buy an 89 GT and keep 'em ALL!

THANKS, Hilton.
I just ordered online from 928 Specialists the power bleeder. Looking forward to trying it out when I get it. First, I want to do the motor mounts, silicone OPG, OPG stud kit install, and new oil cooler hose install - I may just do the brake flush at the same time - probably 2 weekends from now.

Stunning work! Or maybe I should say meticulous.

Dwayne I thought I had OCD, after looking at your work I am convinced I'm an amateur when it comes to cleaning!

Nice job and thank you for the write up.
