Where is the intake filter - in the passenger fender or down in front of the intercooler? - what is the filter type for all this air? custom intake box? cone/dual cones?

In front of the IC is the largest K&N Cone filter available.

He decided to go air to air since he could not find a good way to fit in a larger air to water unit.
No kidding. The air-to-air unit is HUGE!

For those new to the party, this (kind of) where it all started. 400+ hp motorcycle with a VW Type 4 supercharged engine.
He made most of the parts on the bike, including the cylinders (from solid billet on a lathe) rear wheel & frame. He started making his own crank when this 928 fell into his lap.
That is Todd on the bike:

He also did most of the fabrication (including the IC) on Jim Page’s 928:

EDIT - did something happen to Rennlist home pages???

Any rough idea of the temp drop across the interkuhler?
What was the finned electronic gizmo where the big inlet pipe goes into the front?

I think it's officially called the "ubercooler"

It's the fan control module. Needs the cooling for the amps it draws.

Very very nice work, looks great!
Is that the oil seperator at the back of the engine? Where did he buy the IC core?

Yes, that's his homemade Oil/Air separator.
