Tomorrow I'm setting off for Corsica via Germany, Switzerland and Italy. I've estimated the round trip distance as 3,500 miles to be covered in three weeks. I'll be meeting up with Marton in Zurich and before heading over the Alps to Lake Garda via some of the most dramatic mountain passes in Europe. Then south from the Italian Lakes to Florence before catching the ferry to Corsica.
I've done a lot of preparation for the trip, but I'm still pretty certain something will wear out or go wrong. I'm just hoping it won't be the LH ECU because I don't have a spare...

My first long distance trip to France six years ago in the 928 was ruined when the LH failed on the second day of the holiday. I ended up in various hire cars, not what I planned at all. The problem was compounded by the LH failing, then recovering for two days, then failing again, and the Porsche specialist was unable to diagnose the problem so the car was returned to the UK on a recovery truck.

It's going to be a long drive, but well worth it! I've been to Corsica four times, and also hope to go back some day.
We stayed with locals outside of a town on the North Western Coast, half way up the hills/mountains. When we got up in the morning we could see the whole bay - except when there were major wildfires.
Our friends showed us the secret places where the locals would swim and snorkel, away from the tourists. Some of these places might no longer exist or be accessible.
We traveled all around the island, but I found the Northwest, and the Southern tip the most interesting.
Some day I'll be back...
Have fun, and do tell us what it is like nowadays. Be careful on those narrow twisty roads, with your (wide) shark. In the old days, people were driving pretty crazy, and sometimes there was not enough space between the oncoming traffic and the end of the pavement for our Mercedes... I still wonder how we managed to stay out of the water.

Paul passed by yesterday on schedule & everything running well.
I was planning a boat trip on the Rhine (I even got up early to install my new outboard) but we had a severe weather warning (thunderstorms) & nobody else was out.
So it was cakes & coffee in a riverside restaurant.
